    Happy Friday everyone!

My Tacoma is the first vehicle I've owned that I plan to keep "forever". It's easy to get the new car (*or truck) itch after a couple of years, especially with Toyota's highly effective sales and marketing of new and revised models, such as the G4 Tacoma, 4R, LC, etc.

I'm approaching 60K miles and the truck still runs like the day I took her home. No squeaks, rattles, or unexpected repairs. I don't know if it is the best vehicle I've ever owned, but certainly it's my favorite vehicle ever owned.

    Would I buy another G3? Duh.... Would I buy a G4? Absolutely.

Well I hate my 22 Pro ….one issue after another
    Since I’ve owned it:
    Two cut tires
    Clogged ac line
Paint shows a half dozen micro chips
    Chipped windshield

….if it wasn’t for my 22 sr5 I’d be done with the 3rd gen ….and maybe most of Toyota.

edit: I forgot to mention the plastic spring brake pedal silencer thingy popped out and fell onto the floor board ….wasted 5 minutes of my life trying to figure outwhat it was and how to reinstall it.

I was hopeful I'd keep my truck forever too. However, the more I do the math, the more I realize I can't keep driving at the current mileage and it last "forever" before something very costly breaks on it. I'm doubtful you'll get "forever" out of it, but I do hope you'll enjoy it for the next 15 years or so.

I've always wondered how many of the "I'm going to keep this truck forever" actually do so. Probably not that many as we are all addicted to the next shiny thing.

Knowing when to cut your losses with vehicles is key. Forever is not likely for the majority.

I rely on trusted shops to keep my vehicles running without issues.

My new 1992 went 14 years without any major issues other than head gaskets in and out of warranty. Fixed no charge by the dealer both times. Just regular consumables. Had to sell becouse the kid came along and the car seat would not fit in the back extra-cab.

Had to buy a family machine. Lease return 2003 Pathfinder in 2006. Random limp mode turned out to be one faulty throttle body that cost me $1k. 2 of 4 o2 sensors replaced. Other than that, no issues after 14 years. Just regular maintenance. It was showing its age and mileage so I cut my losses and traded it in on my current 2020 Taco.

If I was a DIY hobbyist with a shop maybe I would have considered keeping some of those vehicles for longer. I do feel that I got full value out of those 2 vehicles. 28 years of solid reliable transportation.

Hopefully My 2020 will give me 15 plus years of reliable service. I maintain it meticulously. But, if it starts to show signs of some very costly repairs, I'd trade it in and move on.

    Oh and happy Friday!

    I will.
I figure I got about 5 years left.
My 2021 has 22,000 miles on it so that extrapolates to about 50,000 on the clock in another 5 years.
Damn thing will just be at the break-in point.

My son is hoping for an earlier demise as he knows he will be driving it.

I owe 3 more payments on it. Tempted to just pay it all but at 2.9% the interest on cash in the bank is higher -

Yep, "I'm gonna keep it forever" is why TW starts countless threads on topics like engine oil weights, and other maintenance practices when there is a comprehensive post stickied that lines everything out. And other threads about prefilling the oil filter assembly during an oil change. Many are thinking way above their automotive engineering paygrade.
75% of them are gone in less than a year, having made up ridiculous repairs or flaws in their own mind, and go buy the latest model vehicle with a 77" screen in the dash.

I may possibly be required to buy a 4th gen in 18 mo. when my current 23 Sport will have 150k miles. Not a big 4 banger fan.

My thoughts a month ago were to go for a new V6 Frontier in eighteen mo., but now I am not sure if the Nissan brand is going to survive after the Honda merger fell through

If I have to change the oil filter on this thing one more time… Feels like I have to do it twice a year!
