I've been doing oil changes on my vehicles for a few decades now, and I never thought oil drain plug gaskets/crush washers would ever be a contentious topic of conversation. I always torque them to spec and have never had one leak or come loose. I was surprised to read the posts on this thread and all the comments on the various types of oil drain plug gaskets for sale on Amazon. I can only imagine that the "blue felt" or other material that coats the aluminum material is defective or that the glue that holds it to the washer is poor quality on the aftermarket washers.
Hard to believe that something like this would cause such a needless stir, but there it is.
I'm sticking with plain aluminum washers of the correct dimensions for the oil drain plug. Sheesh!

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
That's fine, but we don't admit to it.
