Online sites will take your order and money. Then many days later tell you the part is unavailable.

Just a quick FYI. Any manufacturer is required to support their product for 10 years past the last production date of said item.

Not in all industries.. either way, I’ve heard this before but never seen anything proving this to be true.

It may not apply to cars, I know in the industry I’m in, it’s required. If not for the vehicle industry that would stink.

It does not apply to the automotive industry. Manufacturers are required to support a vehicle during the warranty period, but even that does not always mean having replacement parts available.

Also, either way, the part was always available, people just wanted to be able to buy it without having to buy the seat cover assembly.

Toyota is also probably one of the best manufacturers for having parts available for a long period of time.

Far too chilly to begin working on my seats , so what I will do for now is place some links here that strictly deal with heated seats as well as repair .

I cant seem to find a nice 2nd gen write up with all the wiring diagrams , part numbers and a bunch of pictures showing how to diagnose as well as change the seat heaters out. With this said , when I fix my issue , I will be sure to pop a bunch of pictures and post them up . There are all kinds of aftermarket installs but nothing supporting OEM heated seats .

What I know about my heaters this far .

Drivers side switch only illuminates on low setting and zero heat on high or low
Passenger side switch illuminates on high and low but zero heat
Probably an easy diagnosis when I drag the truck into the shop

This is also happening on third gens . Here is a large post about it

This is a Canadain built truck . 2010 sport 4X4 with the Pleather package . I have seen other Tacomas within the same years with the switches in the same location .

These are not factory leather seats, or factory heated seats. The leather and heaters were port installed after the truck got to Canada from the factory in Texas or Mexico.

All of the items in the truck are aftermarket already, just installed by Toyota Canada before sending it to the dealer. Here are the part numbers:

All other posts I've seen here on TW have been related to the factory heated seats, which are different than the aftermarket non-factory heated seats that your truck would have come with.

I have a 2014 Tundra limited crew cab driver seat heat control same issue. They had the control. I am not going to plug up the new one as I am sure it’s the element???? I don’t want to fry the new 150$ part?
