Roughly 250,000 a year for the truck total with likely 75-80% of them V6, and I don’t know the statistics of them but it feels like a lot of timing covers and steering racks. The steering rack can seep or leak for quite a while before actually doing anything about it, and mostly same for the timing cover. I bet we hear about less of each of those problems than say the valve issues or ACIS flaps, because the latter two are interactive with the driver. I bet a lot of leaks get noticed during dealer visits and people just agree to get it fixed on the spot rather than coming here to mention it.

Yep. I know that feeling. Wanted to buy a stick truck newer than 2020? Your options were Gladiator, 2500 Ram, or Tacoma.

    Now, it's just Tacoma.

My First New Truck and I have never thought that way about any vehicle I've owned.

I'm in it for the long haul...last vehicle I had was a 2003 Silver Honda Pilot EX I bought in June 2002 while stationed at Hickam, HI.

That puppy lasted me until Oct 3, 2018...it had 210K+ miles on it and some lady decided to ride suicide lane and did not stop.

Before that was a 1996 Eucalyptus Green Honda Accord LX while stationed at Dyess, TX; sold it while stationed in HI.

I'll have my Midnight Black TRD Sport AT/DCSB 4 years come this May...I barely have 33K miles on her and she's my daily driver.

So, thanks for the heads-up but I'm keeping mine.

Agreed. I love my truck but today I had to merge onto the highway where the speed limit is 70mph so naturally most people are going around 85-90mph. I had both feet on the gas pedal lol

    That's cool.

I find that when I get ready to hit the ol' Hwy 1, I press that ECT and watch the RPMs go up!

S-Drive also works well in city/town driving.

That’s a good point, maybe I should use the ECT button more.

Just don't hit the Start/Stop Button! lol (Not sure if you have key ignition)

There was a thread where someone hit it by mistake and had problems...enough to make a thread.

No one was hurt but Boy, did it start a conversation!

There was a Safety Mod on the start/stop button that I thought was pretty cool but funny at the same time.

Canada did not see a full run of 2.7 tacomas, it was very rare to see a 2WD tacoma, let alone a 2.7 model.

I've been a Toyota tech for 13+ years and I've probably driven 20 2.7 cylinder tacomas. No idea why they are so low demand in Canada.

Regardless, they are closely related to the 2nd gen, but they have the superior 6 speed auto, so they are a solid truck as such.
