As the title suggests, I performed a brake bleed / fluid change on my 2019 SR5.

After reading many posts about taking it somewhere, I ended up just buying one 32 oz bottle of Lucas Dot3 and a mityvac hand brake bleeder tool. It worked okay enough to get the job done.

I did the standard RR, LR, RF, LF sequence and filled the reservoir as I went. After it was all done (maybe 5 oz left of the 32) I pumped the brakes with the truck off before test drive.

Followed the instruction of the car care nut where at the end of each bleed, I let it gravity bleed until the bleeder began to drip and tightened the bleeder. This worked well.

The brakes feel just as good as they did before the bleed (5.5 years / 40k miles).

This is the first time I’ve bled any brakes and it was simple enough to do as DIY.

I’d say if you’re handy enough to attempt it, is worth the 60 bucks vs taking it somewhere. Hope this helps!

Sounds simple enough I will give it a try when it’s time to do mine.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Have done it several times on my truck and other vehicles. The mityvac is worth its weight in gold.

I have a motive bleeder that I use on GM vehicles. I've been meaning to see if there's an adapter for the Tacoma. The Mighty Vac is a solid option.

An earlier version of this is what I've used for years for brake bleeding, fluid changes. This and a turkey baster (to get most of the old stuff out of the reservoir) are perfect for the job!

I would make sure the bucket you are using for storing old brake fluid can handle brake fluid not going to dissolve and leak all over... Brake fluid is not as bad as gasoline but does eat through paint and some plastics. Unless you disposed of the fluid already. I have been using Motive bleeder (dry) on a number of cars with great success, but I do not like how Toyota adapter works, hard to have it sealed. This Mityvac sounds like a great solution.

Oh yea. Made sure everything was cleaned up right away with soap and water. The old fluid was transferred to an old oil container until it’s disposed of.
