actually it should be on the bottom (the 3 tabs that hold the bulb in place only fit one way and that is with the shroud on the bottom, any other way would not fit right). and if it is the high low bulb it would have came with a controller

Pretty sure your mistaken, if it was the high/low there is a open slot in the shield that is opened up when the high beams are selected in the truck, this open slot allows the light to strike the upper part of the reflector giving you your high beam. The shield, again, is for blocking light OFF the upper part of the reflector and not blinding people in the low beam setting.

you dont think the bottom of the ROUND reflector in the light housing would reflect up?

I do not have the high/low option. I just got the regular H4 HID kit. I really dont have the need for highs.

I was holding the headlight upside down, sorry for my stupidity, it's been awhile since I've fooled with these bulbs, all retrofit for me, the shields go DOWN, sorry wasn't thinking straight.

I feel like a total dumb-ass, please read above post. The worst part was I had a headlight IN MY HAND, well on the workbench, and was putting a extra bulb in the socket.
