Might be a bad ground cable from the battery. Shot in the dark there but if your positive is connected it will give you all your dash lights and such but without the ground it wont start.

Tried using the clutch start cancel switch? Maybe everything else is unrelated and your clutch switch went out

What happened when you tried to push start it?
    Did the tires lock up?

It comes off the battery and is bolted to the side of your fender in the engine bay. It is only like 6" long. You said the old battery had corrosion on it. What terminal was it on?

This is the way. Can't ignore the white smoke billowing from the exhaust on hard ascents in this scenario.

Pull the plugs and peek inside.

Would that cause the no start? I’m just curious, I’ll probably pull them here in a bit

If it's hydrolocked, yes...white smoke, died while idling, and no crank/start all point to that and warrant at least checking.

If its hydrolocked the tires should have completely locked up immediately after dropping the clutch when trying to push start it, right?

For clarification, I meant pushing the clutch in. I didn’t try to push start it. It is parked in my parents driveway rn, and no one else is home to push it for me

Egh, not necessarily. How much liquid is inside each cylinder, how many cylinders were impacted, the speed that the truck was traveling when the clutch was dumped, how quickly it was dumped, could all play into whether or not the tires lock up instantly, or after a smidge, or at all even.

Though he states he hasn't tried to push start it yet, so we don't know.

A friend was in the army back around 70s/80s. Was in the motor pool visiting a friend who stepped away from the desk. The phone rang from an angry colonel (general?).

Officer: Is my jeep finished yet soldier?
Friend: I do not know sir, I will have to ask.
Officer: Dammit it has been there all day! Do I have to speak to your superior officer?!
Friend: Do you know MY name and rank?
    Officer: NO
    Friend: <click>

Anybody have any tips for the drivers side spark plugs? I’ve been fighting these things for over an hour and I can’t get the ignition coils to unplug. I can’t seem to get them to release. Any magic?

A little blade screwdriver and needle nose help to unplug them...

I’ve been trying his method from that video:anonymous:

maybe I’ll give it another go. I’m displeased with this truck right now. Anybody want to trade a 3rd gen with a fucked engine for a first gen?
