T-Mobile just announced they are partnering with Starlink to provide cell service in areas that don’t have towers. Maybe something to look at?

Y’all are right but that’s always been part of the appeal going places where the only thing a phone is good for is a camera.

Yup, I enjoyed the 5 days of absolutely no cell service deep in the San Juans in SW Colorado a few years ago.

    Yea.
Lower left P was destroyed with a big chip.
I freehanded the pattern with a dremel. I inlayed it with color mixed material and resurfaced it..

Good morning :pccoffee: Cold but not as cold as the drama queens were saying it was going to be. -3° F

When I turned 60 my mother called me to wish me happy birthday. Then said now that you are 60 you're too old to be going off in the middle of nowhere by yourself and made me promise her that I would start going with someone else.

There is some truth to that, OK a lot of truth to it. Women folk do seem to have common sense when guys often fly by the seat of the pants and it can get ugly in a hurry.

I don't consider fly fishing around here in the middle of nowhere so still go by myself often even though there isn't cell phone reception in many places. But a couple of weeks in the sunset country of Canada where the roads end and a month on the North Shore of Lake Superior I always have someone else along now.

Yeah I signed up for the beta plan still haven't heard back yet. I'm on Verizon and they announced that they will have sat service soon but will require a new phone and the sat service they selected isn't the best. But due to the announcement T-Mobile is allowing Verizon customers to on board and after July it will be $20 a month for non T-Mobile customers. T-Mobile is using Starlink which has pretty good sat coverage.

Friend I hunt the North Shore with has an Apple iphone and last year he got sat texting service for the first time. They use Globalstar which is sats along the equator and don't work so well in the North. Was spotty but we would be in the middle of nowhere and he would smile and say I just got a text from my wife. Iridium sat system is much better in the North and I always made sure to rent a sat phone on the Iridum sat service.

Hoping the T-Mobile system pans out. Tree cover can be an issue with Starlink but then again it can with any sat service. Fingers crossed!

They often didn't\don't. Good friend of mine lives in Silver Bay, Mn. and now that he is retired does SAR for Lake County emergency services. They do a lot of body recoveries.

Where I bird hunt in Cook County on the Canadian Border last year ran across this float plane that crashed.

It took them 14 years just to find it. Of course there were no bodies to recover by then. Wolves and pine marten gots to eat too.
