RSI Smartcap: Adventure vs Sport

Good Morning All!

I am in the process of trying to make up my mind on which model of Smartcap I want to go with. Anyone with firsthand experience that can share pros/cons of each model that may be able to push me one way or the other?

I went with Adventure because I didn't want glass windows on the sides.

I think the glass would be nice about 10% of the time...

 

I have no need for side windows and really like the molle panels the Adventure has.

 

I sleep in the back when camping so I like the glass. Only gripe is that there are no screens for the sliding windows. I'm working on a screen/fan mount.

 

anyone order a smart cap lately for a 5ft bed? is there any lead time?

 

They have a production facility in Ft. Worth and my understanding is they have a batch process. When they first started production, I placed my order to not miss out on that batch and my dealer received it very shortly after. I didn't want to wait for the next batch, whenever that may be. I would check with a dealer since things can change quickly.

 

In August, I ordered mine on a Monday, and it showed up at the dealer in Missoula on Wednesday.

 

Their web site shows the adventure in-stock, March for the sport.

 

I ordered a Sport a few weeks ago. I have a German Shepherd and she is going to be back so I went with the glass with window. Also, planning on camping in the back. Lead time is March 25th.

 

I ordered the Adventure Series yesterday. I deliberated back and forth on which model and the Adventure ultimately won out. I have ran softoppers on my last 4 trucks, so the lack of windows didn't really bother me. I use my truck for a small business and load the bed up significantly each week, so I was a bit worried of possibly breaking the glass.
