    Hey guys

    I have a 2009 prerunner TRD sport 40L V6. A few months ago I got a P430 code Bank 2 .
I got a reader and boom O2 sensor. So I went and got new O2 sensors for the up and down on driverside (Bank 2 ) and the light went off. then a few days later there it was again. I did some digging and found out that TOYOTA does not like "Aftermarket"sensors. I called my local "Stealership" and they told me "yes you need OEM . Those are $580 for 1 side.

Can someone help me figure out a work around ? I mean my truck has 300980 on it. I just need a stupid NC inspection and the truck runs perfectly. This seem like a money grab.

    Thx B in Charlotte

With 300k on the engine, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the convertor and not the sensors.
Maybe try Anti-foulers and hope the guy doing the inspection doesn't care or notice them.

Anyways, graphing the sensors is about the only way to "know" what the issue is.

    Thank you

I get the high milage however I am getting no engine lag or idle issues. That is why I went to sensor 1st . None the less sensors are not included in new cats so might as well start there.

Your research wasn't wrong about the sensor.
You're wasting money if you go with aftermarket.

But you are 100% wasting money by not doing a proper diagnosis.
Sometimes, you will save A LOT of money, even if you have to pay someone to figure it out for you.

I didn't say, fix it for you.
I said, figure it out for you.

    Thx Shooter .

I know deep down. just looking before I spend 3k on the truck. It has a new trans and drive shaft and my 15yr daughter wants her. We want to keep her around
