I paid the 48.00 annual subscription for SolidWorks. Just threw together another model and sent it to print. This is addicting. Ordered a spool of PETG SunLu from Amazon.

    Yeah.
I was in the no benchy camp until a couple weeks ago. I powered on the new ADM5 Pro and it was there, so I hit print just to see.

I made this mount for Single din car dash mount for Retevis RA87 GMRS Mobile Radio, 40W Mobile GMRS Repeater, GMRS Transceiver 8 Repeater Channels Base Station, Mobile GMRS Two Way Radio for Off-Road Amazon.com: Retevis RA87 GMRS Mobile Radio, 40W Mobile GMRS Repeater, GMRS Transceiver 8 Repeater Channels Base Station, Mobile GMRS Two Way Radio for Off-Road(Black 1Pack) : Electronics. This is my first 3D model modify as you like the tolerances are really tight, but it fits.

You can DL it from Makerworld https://makerworld.com/en/models/1014802

I'm inept with my google-foo apparently...Looking for a digital vector file (Free, preferably) for the Smokey Bear Resist Logo. Would love to fire up the printer and get some neat stuff made for the cab. Any help appreciated, TIA.

Also, a question for the hive mind: I have a Ti Snowpeak 750 mug I take backpacking and made a lid to keep the heat in while boiling water and while putzing around camp to try to keep my coffee warm. I used PETG and of course it was not heat resistant enough to keep its shape; plastic deformation. My file is good, but I need a better material for this. Any suggestions? I think I might need a freaking space-age material for this (i.e. PEEK for example).

ABS is good up until boiling, IIRC, and most printers can handle it fairly easily as long as you have an enclosure and can keep it warm while printing.

This piece will have to be able to resist the temp of a sustained boil. Also, food safe would be ideal too. So does ABS undergo plastic deformation between 100C and 120C? looks like it IS food safe, but I'm not sure it will maintain its desired form under steam conditions :notsure:

Whoops, I missed the “while boiling” part and only focused on the keeping it warm while putzing. My bad. Definitely not ABS then. You’re probably looking at something exotic and expensive and difficult to print haha

Could you make a plastic die set to mold some like 20 ga steel? Or 24 ga stainless?

Man with how small it is might just be worth sending it to a print farm to print for you.. it'd be cheaper than buying a full spool for that one piece.

Yeah, that s kind off the direction I was thinking...just wanted to see if there was anybody here with experience with some of those wacky materials, could point out some pitfalls or better ideas. Never used any of the hi temp materials before.

You try messaging the company to see if they would sell you a replacement?

Maybe try it in TPU? It would probably soften a bit in use, but maybe you can tweak your design to have it grip the outside of the cup a bit?
