My Tundra has power folding mirrors and they are really useful. I often scratch my head about how Toyota determines their priorities and how they package stuff across trims. IMO, they make a lot less sense than some other mfgs.

You'd have to have insight into their supply pipeline and manufacturing process, along with their thoughts on how they content things in regards to what's profitable and what's not.

All's I know is that Japanese manufacturers are famous for holding many features hostage in trims or option packages. I really appreciate how GM will let you option a vehicle almost a la carte. My problem there is the end result has me owning a Chevy...

They have to save some goodies for the mid-cycle refresh.

If they put all the limited features in the lower models, then the limited wouldn’t be very limited anymore.

My gripe about that whole situation is that the limited should come with a 6 foot bed. When I become CEO of Toyota every truck will be built with a minimum 6 foot bed.

Good thing you’re aren’t the CEO.

At least give the option for 6' in all trim packages, ditto for HUD. 6' bed vs. HUD tipped the scales towards the OR for me.

LOL. Try Porsche shopping. Your wallet will weep after "just a few things I really need" in the configurator. The consolation is you'll end up with a Porsche and not a GM product ;-)

Exactly. Even though they seem to be the rage, the short bed SUV trucks never made any sense to me. But you nailed the issue. Like you, I want the bells and whistles but what I don't need is a crew cab for people in back. I want a 6' bed and a functional extended cab for dog and cargo. (note: new Tacoma access cab really sucks). Same with my Tundra. To get the smaller rear cab and 6.5' bed I had to get SR5 trim. BTW, I removed the rear seat and built hinged platform covers to create a flat storage space and keep access to bins. I don't recall if Limited Tundra has a small cab option, but if it does they are unicorns. And Platinum and 1794 with all the bells and whistles do not have small cab option. So, I can't find what I really want because Toyota doesn't think I want what I want? LOL.
