Really shipping is $70+ on that? I might be interested but shipping seems silly. Not sure exactly where you are but USPS says $30-$40 based on the dimensions from Amazon. If it will ship for that I will take it.

Amazon shipping is discounted due to high volume. consumer shipping quote is the actual cost. best prices you can get IMO are through PirateShip.

This is all industrial standard, there are no federal laws against it, will vary by state...
Most tire manufactures will void the warranty on a plug (only) tire, the proper way to repair a tire is with a tech patch (patch/plug combo), most big chain tire stores will not plug a tire due to the liability and it is even against some polices to repair a tire that has had an improper repair (plug only, tire sealant)... An independent and or small tire shop can do whatever...

Even though you and I (yes me) may have never had an issue does not mean others have not, even when done with a good plug kit with the flex of the rubber and under pressure a plug can blow out...

And it is not scaring them as much as it is informing them of what can happen...
Lots of people drive a vehicle their whole life and never have a wreck, so no need for a seat belt, but because wrecks can and do happen everyday, seat belts are required by law except for adults in New Hampshire... So again, just because it has never happened to you does not mean it does not happen...

BTW 35 years as an automotive technician/service manager with an associates degree in automotive technology and my last 17 years (before retirement 2021) working for the largest automotive tire manufacturer in the world... I might know a thing or 2 about flat repairs... lol

    Oops:D

however, maybe OP used measurements for the product? OOP could be using dimensions/weight for the box it’s currently in…

I used the product the product dimensions plus a couple inches. It really just needs a flat piece of cardboard on both sides not necessarily a whole box.

PM me your zip code and I'll check prices. I just did a random price check using my Michigan zip for shipping to Yuma AZ, Sacramento CA and Tacoma WA.
With an actual destination it may be less.
Actual dimensions are 56x17x1 and 18 pounds. I put it in the cardboard sleeve the snailarmor panel came in.

I take it you’re not a fan of the duratracs? I’ve only had one set and they only had 15k on them when it got totaled. But they were great til then.

The Duratracs have been completely redesigned and should be a much better tire than they used to be. I had a set years ago and they got pretty bad around 40k miles.
I'm just over 7000 miles into the new ones and love them. They roll absolutely perfect, no vibrations, and the noise level is the same as a less aggressive AT tire.

The version I have on my ‘20 have been a good tire Except for the road noise. I guess that’s the trade off for the good off-road capabilities. In my case I’m going to live with a less capable off-road tire and switch to a more friendly highway tire to lessen the noise.

I had no issues (noise or otherwise) with the DuraTracs on my prior vehicle. After 55k miles they still had tread but were getting really slick on ice; I got my money's worth.

They’re a lot quieter than my Toyo RT’s and ride smoother. I just turn up the radio if it gets too bad!

Agree with all what you are saying, but tire blow-outs happen, even with new tires, My point is that the likelihood of a blowout is only slightly increased with a plugged tire; is enough for a garage to not want the added liability for the $10 profit of plugging a tire.

With regard to 'is plugging a tire safe enough', I say safe enough, because getting in a car is technically RISKY, even in a well equipped car with brand new tires, at the correct pressure; so how much less safe is it if that car has a plugged tire? So incrementally less safe that for those that consider this as TOO Much Added Risk, you probably should NEVER Drive at Night, or on wet roads either; because I estimate those are likely more hazardous, than running a plugged tire. But again, your money, your car, your decision.

I can get it, if my wife were concerned that a tire is plugged, I would make my pitch, but then happily replace the tire, if that eases her mind. We have enough distracted drivers out there already.

Love it, Let you in on a secret: Wallmart in Canada still sells the good old gas cans, with normal spouts, and since they are metric, one common size holds 7+ gallons!! I also pick them up at Garage Sales, and purchase "Water Spouts' on ebay (they are often missing the spout)

I can understand that. I’m kind of in the same boat myself. I need something decent to screw around on the farm, decent in the snow, but I still spend 80-90% of my time on pavement. So it’s hard to justify anything aggressive.

I actually de-modded some recently. I was looking over the truck and felt like I bought a bunch of stuff, just to buy it, not because I was using it. I removed several things and kind of found it refreshing. Fortunately I am cheap so nothing was really expensive that I lost a bunch of money on. Would this be a case of reverse modding? LOL
