Yeah that’s complete BS, spray the plastic tub, nuts. As a potential buyer of a 4th gen down the road that is completely stupid.

I'm sure I mentioned it before. When Toyota put out their 4G promotion videos, they kept saying the bed was a new composite that had more fiber or glass fill. Toyota also said all the trucks that were being shown had a preproduction bed. I don't know what, if anything changed from preproduction to production but Toyota started offering the spray in liner. I think 22 and on composite bed Tundras also got the spray in liner as an option.

I have a 2006 with no spray on liner and I've never used a bed mat. I almost never need to use the bed of my truck when it's raining, so I'm not walking around back there when it's wet.

I haul a lot soil amendments so I want stuff to slide easily off the bed.

The distributor is installing counterfit heritage grills with TOYOTA script on them?

If that's true the amezin police might put a stop to that.

Both these look like they have already sold, but here are at least 2 examples out of GA - SET.

The bed in my 2011 is not slick it has a rough factory surface. What am I missing here it is a truck after all, I haul stuff in it yes there are scratch in the plastic that comes from actually using the bed.

If the compsite bed is wet it's going to be a slippery as a wet Weathertech floor mat.

I did see a similar grille on somebody's truck. It might be a stretch but the distributor installing and selling a counterfit Toyota branded item might not be in their best intrest. Maybe nobody cares? I'd think Toyota may not like it, do they have a legal leg to stand on to do anything about it? As long as the distributor isn't passing the grill off as a Toyota licensed product and is informing the customer, the distributor or dealer is probably good.

My issue would be is if you bought that crap at dealer A and then the light bar or Raptor lights stopped working a year later and you went to dealer B to get it repaired under warranty then they would laugh at you.

i can only speak for myself, but i couldn't give a shit if my bed gets banged up or not - i just want everything to not slide all over the place when i'm driving. the spray-on liner helps a bit, but a rubber mat is still the best solution.

I'll keep looking for a truck without the spray-on. If there are other buyers like me who don't want it, I'll bet the dealer could save themselves $20-30 per truck by not installing it.

That is true but the guy who installed it got paid and is laughing all the way to the bank.

^^ This is my view as well. My mat's usually in the bed and whatever goes back there travels safer on a grippy surface, but sometimes it's better (at least for me) to remove it and have things slide easily. Example: 20 bags of mulch much easier without any resistance :).

I was also lucky enough to have dealer remove spray-in liner. (edit: not physically removed---- from the build sheet prior to production)

I don’t see the point spray liner on a plastic bed? Just give me a bed rug! My last bed rug I got 175k out of it it still comfortable on my old knees. Yes it’s got stained and faded but it’s still doing its job! The bed rug dose let things slide around but it’s mostly when I and Bo duke a corner at seeds I should not. Bed mats are great if you’re not trying to slide heavy bags of cement out of it! Some of the newer ones still let stuff slide and don’t do much other than look good. I think Toyota is just in for the money grab on this one!

I agree with some of the others....
The stock bed is very slick & easily scratches....
The toyota sprayed coating is actually bad-ass if seen in person.
    Quality is very good!
It's also reasonably priced inline / competative with Line-X's pricing....
