So, I have acquired a very good condition A340F (98k miles) mated to a multimode t-case from a 2000 3.4l 4Runner Limited (reason why I am assuming this is the source vehicle below).

The gentleman I bought it from mentioned it was from an '02 Tacoma (he bought it a couple years ago for a crawler build that never happened), but here are my reasons for believing it's a 2000 4Runner Limited, and why I'm creating this post for some compatibility questions I couldn't find elsewhere.

Multimode cases were on '99 and '00 4Runner Limiteds.
Assuming this transmission and t-case were mated from factory (I have no reason to believe they weren't, gasket material and general condition appears to be consistent, but you never know), I believe this has to be from the year 2000, as the transmission also does not have the "kickdown cable" (see image below where there is the factory "transmission case plug" that covers the port where the cable would normally go). Knowing that the kickdown cable on the Tacoma was removed for the '03/'04 model years, I did some research as to when that happened for the 4Runner, and strangely enough it seems like the A340F on the T4R moved from cable to electronic , ahead of the Tacoma by a couple years. If anyone has fact check info here, I would appreciate it.

    TRANS SWAP COMPATIBILITY
So given my current 3.4l '03 A340E trans has the electronic throttle valve control, my question is that I shouldn't have any issue fitting this new '00 3.4l 4Runner A340F also with electronic throttle valve control, right? I have not yet dropped the pan on the 4Runner A340F to closely inspect the valve body. Is there anything else compatibility wise I'm missing? The trans housings are virtually identical, both have the transmission case plug where the kickdown cable would go on prior years, so I'm assuming the valve bodies are the same. I understand there may be some sensor/wire adapting I need to do for speed sensor and such, but I want to make sure that for the most part this will be plug and play without the need for valve body/output shaft swaps. FWIW the code on top of my A340E is 35010-3G200, and on the donor 4Runner A340F it is 35010-3G100.

    T-CASE COMPATIBILITY
While I found Cattywampus' thread swapping a multimode case into his 4WD Tacoma inspiring, I don't even know if it's possible to do starting from a PreRunner with zero existing 4WD wiring, and if it is, I don't have any interest in going insane trying it. My plan is to ideally trade for a j-shift case, or just sell this one and stay on the hunt for a j-shift so I can do manual hubs and keep it simple.

turbodb's t-case compatibility thread has been immensely helpful, and I believe I have most of the compatibility info I need for the j-shift hunt, however, I still have a couple questions, and I'm seeing less available information regarding year and engine implications on t-case compatibility. Going off of a diagram on turbodb's thread, here is where I'm at for sourcing a t-case:
    1. Automatic transmission - I need to look out for the green neutral sensor as well as lever shape, both indicate this is for an auto, presumably one wouldn't be found without the other.
    2. J-Shift - This will be obvious but need to ensure there is no actuator, which would indicate j-shift.
    3. Diff Lock/ABS - This one I'm not sure about, my truck has ABS, but do I need to source a t-case with this sensor? I would like to retain ABS functionality.
    4. Supports A.D.D. - I do not plan to use A.D.D. functionality, but from what I understand this one doesn't matter as much? I.e. I could use a j-shift t-case with or without this 4WD sensor? If I end up with a front diff with A.D.D. I plan to do the clamp into position hack.
    5. Engine Compatibility - I don't think this one is explicitly called out in the thread, but is there any compatibility issue if a t-case was originally mounted to 4cyl vs. V6 drivetrain? I.e. anything special about the splines and tail housing mating that would be unique to one or the other? My assumption would be no, but I'm not sure, and not sure how I would identify that in a junkyard part unless it was still on the truck.

I plan to post my multimode up as a hopeful trade for a j-shift on here, but alas I haven't hit my 50 message mark yet lol. I'll also need to track down all the other main components (4.10 front diff, drive shafts, etc) for the build, hmu if you got something in western NC area!
