So I’ve deleted my cats, did that while ago with a MBRP catback and a LCEngineering long tube header, and just recently deleted my EGR as I had a code and didn’t feel like fixing it. I have perma codes for both of those and sometimes the truck feels low on power, do first gen Tacomas have limp mode? I just realized it might and why my truck feels peppy on some days and sluggish on others. Doesn’t seem to change when and if I clear the codes because the Egr code pops up within 5 minutes. Cat code takes a couple of days. Any insight?

No, there isn't. Not until 2nd Gen (2005 has the 1st mention of limp mode in TIS).

It's probably puking up poor performance from time to time as the ECU just can't figure itself out with all the red flags it is throwing. Clearing the codes isn't going to help either since from the moment you do it's trying to figure itself out. On the days it does run ok, I'd say it is just a fluke.

Maybe if I do the resistor for the egr and the spacer for the cat it might help?

But also there are plenty of other people who have done these same things and they haven’t caused any issues. And also it hasn’t always done this
