Hello, i am looking at replacing the oxygen sensors on my 2012 2.7L 4WD. Is there just one upstream and one downstream for a total of 2 sensors?

Yes the 2.7L only has 2 sensors, Upstream AFR sensor and Downstream O2 sensor.
Note that there are different sensors depending on if it's 2wd or 4wd for the downstream and auto or manual transmission for the upstream, I believe the difference is the length of the wires.

It's recommended to go with Denso sensors and please get them from a reputable source like a parts store, dealer, or rock auto, not Amazon/ebay. Too much counterfeit junk on those sites.

I replaced my O2 sensors recently. They can be a bear to remove because of the access problems and corrosion. This video was helpful for me, but there are plenty out there with good tips:

I agree with the video that the normal O2 sensor removal tool will just spread out and lose grip when you torque it hard.....BUT if install it on the sensor, then put a band clamp over the tool and tighten it up, then put your ratchet on it...you will be hard-pressed to get it to slip.

    Worked for mine anyway.
