I recently had my windshield replaced and noticed water pooling on my passenger floor mat during moderate to heavy rain. I shoved a towel into the bottom right corner of the windshield and it was soaked.

I took it back to the windshield place and they tested for leaks and said they couldn’t find any. I believe they then said it was the cowl and cabin air intake and messed with them before saying it should be good to go.

I went through the car wash a few days ago and I put a towel in the corner again and it was wet.

Does anyone have any insight on how I can identify what is causing this leak? I want to have a better idea before bringing it back.

Edit: From what I can tell the cowl and intake are below where the towel was getting wet (red arrow). Would it even be possible for a cowl/intake leak to result in water there?

I think the air intake for the cabin filter is under the cowl maybe they damaged something under there.

They caused it if it wasn't leaking before the replacement, they just don't want to admit it.

It's the windshield leaking. If it was from under cowl it would be leaking through Hvac box on to floor. The drains would be plugged, and over flowing in air intake. The wiper cowl is not sealed, it only to keep debris out.

Does the truck have a sunroof? check for clogged sunroof drains. If not, it needs to go back to the windshield place. Ski

The windshield shop is full of crap … they didn’t seal it properly . I would have another window tech check it again . And show them the leak under pressure .

This is a common problem when the cowl cover seal fails. The water leaks into the HVAC system.
I designed a kit to fix this. Please check out KIT4.

Other of other benefits to this.
    • Keeps rodents and debris out of the air cabin filter
    • Add a cowl intake snorkel for added protection when crossing deep water (2nd gen only)

These fit 2nd and 3rd Gen Tacomas!
