    Just in case anyone was curious; this issue has now been resolved.

    I got ahold of someone who was upgrading their leaf springs from their stock Tacoma for $100 and swapped them out.

    Ride is INSANELY better now. I have verified that the leaf springs were the 'heavy duty' / 'work' leaf springs used in Canada/Mexico.
    My current theory is the previous owner put them on to handle the camper weight + gear.

    Truck actually rides like a truck now. HUGE difference.
