You need to turn off the noise canceling & the artificial sound getting pumped into the truck through the speakers.....

I would start there....

Bob confirmed with me, he was getting noises from the additional sub...

I turned all mine off prior to the install...

 

OK - Thanks for that. What's interesting to me is that this sound from the sub is actually the bass part of the program I was listening to at low volume, and if I turn the audio system off altogether that sound is gone. I would think active noise cancelling would still be alive even with the audio system off...?

Did you use the Carista OBD or EVO model? Sucks that you have to pay $44 for a 1-year subscription to use it...

I only paid for a 1 month subscription and then canceled it after I made all the changes I wanted to make.

 

I'm game. I'm having trouble figuring out their website so I might have to contact them directly before I order. I see where a 1-month subscription is available for $15 but I can't see where that applies to either model when trying to order them. But at the moment the EVO at 30% off is available with a 1-year subscription for $80 total so I'll probably just end up ordering that pair which will give me plenty of time to learn what it can do and what settings I want. Too bad it apparently won't work with my Santa Fe, at least not yet.

Yeah, that seatbelt chime is particularly annoying. I can't even make it from my mail box up my lane to my house (about 0.3 mi.) without it clanging away loudly enough that I have to put my seatbelt on anyway to preserve my ears and sanity...!

Yeah - I'm reading the reviews now. If I get the base model on sale on Amazon for $31.49 I presume when I activate it I will have to sign up for at least a 1-month subscription, correct? And when I do that, will I have all that I need to make the changes we're discussing in this thread...? Some of the reviews say the base model only points to things that it can't change and you need the EVO model for those. I don't need to do any diagnostics - I have a cheap scanner for reading fault codes and doing resets...

 

The obd2 I linked will do everything you need it to....
Will give you a ton of options to change that you won't....
You buy the month, make your changes, if you want to mess with your other car, do that the same day....
Cancel membership, be done with it....

Yeah I ordered on Amazon and then I signed up on the Carista app on my phone. When you get the OBD scanner tool, then download the app on your phone and set up your subscription. The truck remembers all settings so I signed up, made my changes, and then cancelled the membership through the app.

 

I recently did some stuff to my 2024 Tacoma JBL system that you guys might be interested in. I'm having fun revisiting my car audio installer days from the late 90's at The Good Guys
I ordered a Helix V Twelve DSP MK2 (75wrms@4ohms X 12 channels) amplifier from the UK, hooked it up with 11 high level inputs coming from the stock JBL amplifier (it took like 350ft of 14ga wire), and initially hooked it up to all the stock speakers. The DSP and crossover functions of this amplifier are unbelievable! I was amazed how well I was able to make this thing sound with all the stock speakers and a few hours of tuning. I could have stopped there, it honestly wasn't terrible at all. It played far louder, cleanly, than any stock speakers I have ever had. Even the removable center channel works great with the Helix amplifier. But, I wanted more. I got a set of Morel 8" 2-way component speakers, and I modified some 6x9 to 8" speaker adapters (using my lathe) for the front doors because the Morel 8" woofer is a non-standard diameter, and the holes in the adapters were just a little off of the stock door holes. The Morel 1" tweeters pressed right into the stock a-pillars, and I just zip tied them in using the little tabs that hold the stock tweeters. I ordered a pair of One Audio WB3.e 3" midranges, they are made to order and are supposed to ship out by tomorrow. The WB3.e midranges will bolt in the dash in place of the stock speakers with some simple adapters I will make. Then it was on to the sub, I didn't want to put a ton of money into this sub experiment, so I went with a $129 low-profile Rockford Fosgate dual 4 ohm sub, and designed and 3d printed my own adapter to mount it to the stock sub bracket, which is unbelievably an infinite baffle setup piped out the back of the cab?!? I want to shake the hand of the designer of the stock sub, that idea was just freakin cool. I really need to dynamat the back wall, but you wouldn't believe the sound coming out of this plastic bracket subwoofer. Back in the day I never thought I would buy a new Toyota truck and be able to bolt-in an 8" 3-way custom component speaker set and a 10" sub, with 11 channels of DSP and active crossovers, without drilling even one hole in the truck, and never taking the stock stereo out of the dash. LOL The sound quality from the stock amplifier is really good, especially considering I am using Spotify wireless on Android Auto. A roll of 3/4" roam-rubber tape from Home Depot worked great for the door speaker adapters, and also to thicken up the seal from the sub bracket to the back wall (a little extra tension stopped it from vibrating). This is still a work in progress, but its been fun so far!

On Friday I upgraded the rear speakers with some Morel 6.5" Tempo Ultra Interga MKII coax speakers. I cut the center out of the original speakers, and I soldered the leads to the terminals for the voice coil, so it's Plug and Play.

 

I added some midrange speakers today. These little 3" mids sound amazing!

Like I did with the rear speakers, I cut out the center of the stock midrange speakers, and made it into a PNP mounting bracket for the new WB3.e.

Anything is possible in car audio with a 10mm socket and a Harbor Freight air body saw.

 

Have u tried removing your center speaker? I did that on day 1 after reading someone else said it improved the sound and after doing so I agreed. It sounds less “tinny” without it IMO.

 

Yeah it sounded pretty terrible in the original stock setup, but with the new amplifier having DSP and a ton of equalization adjustments, and the ability to create a true virtual center, with 75w rms available, I got it sounding pretty good. From the factory it is way too loud compared to the other front speakers.

 

Anyone know what terminals need to be covered to completely eliminate all sound from the center porta potty?
My ap4 interface didnt completely shut it down, it still has a whisper of sound to it,
Would like to leave the charging terminals exposed but put electrical tape on the others....
Think it was posted once but good luck attempting to locate it, I tried...

I am looking to do something similar and I have a few questions for you.
1) The 8" woofer -> did this fit without any major modifications? Did you need to build new brackets? How do they sound? Any pictures in the door?
2) The 2" drivers -> Why did you chose this over a 1" tweeter or over a 3" coax?
3) Subwoofer -> does this fit with the seat on top of it?
4) The hi-res bluetooth -> is this a substantial improvement from the headunit?
