I'd mentioned this in the Sacramento members thread, but I digress. Sold the '22 Tacoma DCSB TRD-OR, have a ton of stuff from it (reverted back to mostly-stock before I traded it in). Willing to make deals with y'all NorCal locals because I frankly do not want to deal with shipping right now. Show up, look at this stuff with your own eyes, put cash in my hand, take this stuff away!

Warn hidden winch mount (p/n#106252) - still has my Smittybilt XRC9500 winch/synthetic rope/Factor55 flatlink installed. $1000 for the combo, including a LambTek winch switch bracket kit (w/BlueSea switch and cable). Can/will separate. $500 for just the Warn winch mount.

Why a Frontier? What was it about the Tacoma that you couldn't bear any longer? I can name ten things but I am curious as to why the switch.

This is long-winded. Get your coffee or whatever.

"Why a Frontier?" Because I wanted to stay in the midsize segment, and wasn't going to pay the 'Toyota tax' to get back into a 2nd gen, arguably the best truck I'd owned in 30+ years of owning vehicles. I wasn't going to buy another 3rd gen Taco, simple as that. The 4th gen Taco was about as appealing to me as a root canal. The GM twins and the Ford offerings didn't interest me (except for the ZR2 Bison, but not spending $70k on a GM anything).

"Why a Frontier?" Well, the boxes it ticks vs the 2nd/3rd gen Tacoma; a fully-boxed frame, 4-wheel disc brakes, Dana 44-based rear axle, a 9-spd trans that knows what gear it wants to be in (without having to tune or use ECT button), and a V6 stock with 30hp/20tq more than the 2GR in the Taco. I'm getting 2-3mpg better than the Taco, consistently. All the exterior lights are already LED and work well. An all-metal bed, with a factory spray-in liner that doesn't require bracing just to take the long-term weight of a shell/camper/gear. The truck is easier to get in/out of (which at 6'4" with a bad neck/shoulder is something I appreciate).

Then there's the "Titan swap" aspect of it. Stock control arms, shocks, outer tie rod ends and front axles from a Titan bolt right into a Frontier, giving it a 3" wider track and additional 3" of wheel travel. The 8" front diff from the Titan is a direct bolt-in as well, vs the 7" Frontier front diff. Like the 2nd/3rd gen Taco, the Frontier/Titan's basic chassis is the same since 2005, so parts are plentiful and being stock, midtravel setups can be had/done cheap.

Cons? Plenty, depending on how you slice it. Aftermarket support is OK, but not nearly the breadth/depth of offerings as for Tacoma. The turning radius is worse than the Taco, by a foot-ish in a u-turn situation. The rear seat (under/behind) storage is pathetic compared to the Tacoma. It doesn't take to wider wheels easier, changing the offset by 10mm is about it, before trimming 'flaps and whatnot becomes required (no CMC needed though). The transmission pan is plastic, and there's no OE skidplate offering for it, which is stupid (plenty of aftermarket skids though). The exterior cameras (reverse/surround view) are like comparing 480p (Nissan) to 4k (Toyota). I do miss the power sliding rear window of the 3rd gen Taco.

"What was it about the Tacoma that you couldn't bear any longer?" This is a bit more sensitive topic, not 100% the truck but also Toyota in general. One aspect was about how I was consistently treated like a sub-human being on every single visit to any Toyota dealer, for anything. I'm no entitled Karen, but I do appreciate not being treated like my mere existence is a burden upon yours. But I digress.

The straw that the broke the camel's back, was the constantly-leaking windshield. Principal of the matter; it was under warranty, this was their problem to fix. They wouldn't.

On the final trip into the dealer, there was literally a foot-wide path of dried water stains down the inside of the windshield, right in the driver's line of sight. Their shop foreman told me as he turned to walk away "I took it through the carwash, it didn't leak for me. Maybe bring it back when it's raining." When I pressed him on his attitude he said "What do you want me to do? We know it's the windshield, but if we can't photo or video document it leaking, Toyota won't reimburse us for having the windshield resealed."

On a previous trip to the dealer for this water leak concern; they had the truck over a week, even opened a TAS case for it. They never gave me the same story twice as to what they were finding, during this visit. I heard everything from "it's the sunroof" (truck didn't have one), "it's your roof rack" (truck didn't have one), "it must be the 3rd brake lamp or antenna" (truck is parked nose-up on inclined driveway, not within the laws of physics for that to be viable), they tried to blame my door-window vent visors (LOL!), then actually said it was a "faulty weld on the roof" but couldn't tell me where, and their 'glass guy' said "no way a new truck windshield is leaking" so they ignored it, even though it was obvious. They broke/damaged pieces in the interior and refused to admit it or make it right - they'd gutted the interior trying to find the water leak on that visit. After almost two years of this shit and having water leaking into the wiring and everything else up under the dash/behind the cluster, I'd finally had enough and got rid of it.

Beyond that? I didn't care for the spastic transmission either, but would've eventually gotten a tune to deal with that. Overall, I kept dumping money into the truck, trying to recreate my 2nd gen Taco (just DCSB instead of ACLB, because kid/carseat)...and frankly it was never going to be that good. 'Cut bait and move on' was my mindset at the end. The Toyota dealership being total dicks on that last visit, was just the push I needed to drive it next door to Nissan and trade it away.

Nissan had no mark-ups, and knocked $7k off the MSRP of the Frontier, bringing it down to $38k. They gave me $38k for the Taco. They treated me like a human being, and were transparent throughout the whole deal on the numbers. So in the end, it was basically a key-trade deal with better customer service and on the $$ aspect, I actually came out ahead.

Now, all this bullshit being aired; you interested in any parts? Because I'm not interested in going back/forth in this thread endlessly, over shit that doesn't matter because what's done is done. If you wanna discuss this further, PM me. If you're interested in any of these parts, let me know. Thanks for looking.

Just realized you have a DCLB - these sliders won't fit. You need sliders specific to the DCLB. Sorry man.

    Tweeters sold.

I'm heading up towards Camp Connell/Boards Crossing tomorrow morning, for the weekend. If anyone along that stretch of highways 12, 49 or 4 between Sac and there wants any of this, I can bring it with me. PM if interested.
