transmission used/rebuild recommendations? 1st gen

I have a 99 Tacoma 3.4 2wd manual 5sp that is popping out of first. Hoping for something on the more economical side used or repaired. Anyone had luck finding something around here (south bay)? I changed the fluid and it improved but need it better for a behind the wheel drive test. thx

Oops. You're 2wd. I'd give them a call anyway and see if they have one.

The 2WD 3.4 manual trans is a R150, the 4WD 3.4 manual is a R150F, similar trans but F denotes the transfer case I think. (so not applicable to 2WD)
The 2WD 3.4 V6 manual 1st gen Tacomas were not so common (and were all 5 lug), you might try car-part.com.

 

thx for the reply...yes it's a hard one to find. Might end up getting it rebuilt. Mine has only 160K on it
