Trying to swap out the PCV Valve. It won’t budge…sprayed it with PCB Blaster and waiting until tomorrow to try again.

I tried to break it loose again and it still will not budge. Either it was changed out by a previous owner and they over tightened/torqued(should only be torqued to 20flbs) it or it’s just never been changed and it stuck from years of being there. I’ll try with an impact in a few days after I soak it a couple more times with PB Blaster.

Finally got that PCV Valve swapped out. Used my torque wrench on that sob. Here’s the old one….If I were to take a guess, it has not been changed in a Very long time, it ever.

Primary DTC: P0430 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)

    Additinal Diagnostic Trouble Codes:

P0441 - Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow

P0455 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross Leak)

Trying to clear this up before 1/31/2025 to pass smog. I’m going to attempt to put a spark plug non fouler between the pipe & bottom oxygen sensor to serve as a spacer to get rid of the code.

First I’m going to have to clean the mud etc off.

If I have to replace the Vapor Canister(charcoal box) I will probably get a Dorman one from Auto Zone or Oriellys to save some money.

So, back to the P0430 Code:

I think I’m going to try this and see if it helps: https://youtu.be/U0-0XMWR3ow

If those who see my build thread know more about this than I do….feel free to chime in as I don’t want to fubar my truck :D

Drilled out these with a 1/2” bit this afternoon. Maybe spacing the O2 Sensor back a bit will help the Check Engine Light go off.

The 02 Sensors are being difficult…
Trying to take them off and everything is so old that nothing wants to disconnect or come off. :frusty:

I’m going to keep using PB Blaster on it and try to work them loose. Hopefully they will come off eventually

I also realized that something was mounted in this spot either by Toyota or the previous owner. Damn if I know what though….Drivers side under the hood.

Ok, I kept at it and got the spacer in. Used the OBD II Scanner to clear the codes & drove it a bit. Then took it to get smogged. It passed & no Check Engine light!

    Thanks!
It’s nice to know that I will not have to deal with that for 2 years.

Ok, so this morning the Check Engine light came back on. o_O

I guess I’ll have to tackle taking off the up-stream 02 Sensor(which looks like a B) and spraying a can of Sea Foam in the pipe. Let it soak in for like an hour. Then, according to the YouTube video I watched, the truck will blow lots smoke for like 40 mins or something before it clears out the gunk. At that point I will have to use the OBDII Scanner to clear the codes and cross my fingers they don’t come back.
