2024 Tacoma Limited not Starting

Has anyone experienced their 4th gen Tacoma not starting? Display lights up but engine doesn't turn over.

• Purchased in November 2024, has 4K miles.
• Currently at dealership - they said the battery is good, could be the starter. Starter is on back order, no ETA.

Any thoughts is greatly appreciated.

Brake pedal switch or shifter interlock (doesn’t see truck being in park)

 

I've seen people complain that parking brake got stuck half engaged and they had to mess with the button a bit to get it to start. but there was a related code that indicated that. do you get any CEL codes?

'could be the starter' is pretty sketch. It is or it isn't, not hard to test. Why would you mention 'backorder' if you had not confirmed it's the issue?

This post reads like either ChatGPT bought a virtual ‘24 Tacoma Limited, “drove” it 4000 miles, AND generated an issue to ask about here in order to collect answers, or…..maybe Sheldon and his team are out of ideas and looking for solutions.

 

Was there prior issues with the starter? I thought something was mentioned about a starter before? Maybe it was another Toyota product or I'm thinking of something else altogether.

 

Leave it there & get a free complementary rental, if they dont want to give you one, ask for a manager, if that doesnt get you a rental, go to sales manager & so on...
When theyre paying for you in a rental, you will get real answers.....
They should be putting you in a free rental at that mileage...
Then they can take all the time they need, especially if it truly is a starter & theyre on b/o for the next 2-3+ months...
Dont be a bitch if they put you in a Prius, so what its a free car....
