Wipe the area around the valve covers before removing them. Done.

I think it’s easier to spot a leak on a dirty engine

I don't. Also rare the roads get salted around me. I'd have to go to a self service place anyway which there are none close by and they also like to just eat your money.

Dow Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner. I’m sure there are more expensive cleaners marketed towards car care but it really works.

Lightly mist the momo. WD40 it let it sit for a few mins. Maybe a light brush to get any mung off then hoze er off. Then WD 40 again and wipe it down. I too hate any salt or crud on my momo.
Im not a detail every component but i like to see if it developes any leaks.

If only it were that easy. Once you take the intake manifold off all the fun starts. Have you seen the top of the engine with the manifold off? It's not as simple as just wiping things.

I just did mine a little while ago.
After all the salt and slop.

I left the motor running, I used hot water at the high pressure car wash (although I didn't blast it), I drove it home, I left the motor running, I used an air hose to dry it off, I used a small amount of 303 on a rag to shine up some of the plastic.

If you stay on top of it and do a quick wipe down every oil change it becomes a 10 minute job instead of a 2 hour chore.
