I'm trying to track down a clunk/pop sound from the front end. Only happens when turning sharp and changing direction, like when backing out of a parking space. I've put the truck up on a lift and can't make anything move that shouldn't by hand. The only thing left I can think of would be the control arms moving forward/aft, which gets me to my questions: Should the gaps seen here between the lower control arms and the frame mounts for them be there or is there supposed to be a bushing or something else taking up that space?

Hum, pretty sure it's not the radiator support as the sound only happens when turning and initially changing direction. I never hear it when moving continuously in forward or reverse.

Mine clunked for a few years. Finally the ball joints went and I had to replace the LCAs. It hasn’t clunked since.

    - LCA bolts torqued to spec. I think 100ft lbs.

    - Sway bar end links tight, they can make a lot of noise.

    - What lower control arm cam bolts do you have? Those don't look stock.

There should not be a gap here. And it looks like your cam tab might be bent.
