Ah gotcha. 3M VHB or Gorilla would be fine.
(I used Gorilla for my last two trucks' snorkels instead of drilling the A pillar)

Project Farm got nerdy on double-sided a little bit ago if you want to dive in:

I am glad I popped the clamshell open because after counting the teeth on the ring and pinion gears, I had the wrong gear ratio. It would've destroyed something if I can mismatched gears.

4.10, I had 4.30 which is a really rare gear ratio in 4x4. I ended up finding one in a 1996 4Runner at the pick-n-pull in Oakland.

After driving my moms Outback the last few days, I'm going to surprise her with a suspension refresh. Gonna go Bilstein B4. Man she's overdue, poor thing rides like my truck.
Gotta find somewhere to order assembled if I can. *Recommendations welcome if you have any.

My brakes are still driving me crazy -- I've replaced about everything except for the calipers and it just doesn't stop that well and more recently it's been groaning down the main hills to get off the hill up here (think mountain town down to civilization sorta). Groaning and less braking power is not for me.

SOOO...I could replace the calipers but screw it - let's just do the Tundra upgrade -- right? lol. smh. silly monkey...

Fuck the tundra upgrade, if you're going to spend money just get 5th gen 4 runner brakes

Ironically it was a 4.30 diff I was fighting with. I wouldn't call them "rare", you just have to know where to look. They seem to be standard equipment for 2.7L 4x4s starting somewhere in 1999/2000. Of course, that means they're paired with 8.4" rears, so if you want a matching locker you need to get that from somewhere else.

Did your 1998 2.7L PreRunner have a 4.30 rear from the factory? I'm not as familiar with PreRunner configurations--that'll be one to add to my mental notebook.

Heated a toothbrush to put a 90 degree bend in it to clean the bottom of a cupholder.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
I bought some spring retainers from Slee to hold the 100 springs on my LT rear-end project. I thought the $35 price was fair. Shipping is unreal at $23.66.

    Also -- my other saga...

I was hoping it was just my bov leaking that was causing the screeching on the hwy (it wasn't). omga -- I've been chasing this for two months now ?? -- feels like a life time.

It's hard to find because it has to be hot -- and hwy, longer dosed hot, not in/around town, or idle hot. It's gotta be some tiny little thing -- sounds like a freaking balloon or screaming belt.

I did find some smaller leaks with some boost plugs -- so was nice to fix those, and the bov was leaking too so...again another nice thing.

I did find a loose bolt on the manifold (the head has some effed up holes from the previous owner) - it could actually be small exhaust leak...I mean I'll take anything to fix it at this point. It sounds HORRIBLE.

I'll get to test it again on the way to hockey tonight here soon... :p

Yes, the rear 4.30 was factory. It was a rare gear ratio (for the front at least), I called tons of junkyards all across the western U.S. and only a few had them.

All the trucks that had 4.30 gears are still running is all :)

There's probably some truth to that actually, since the ratio was only used in the latter half of the 1st gen's production.

Toyota never ceases to amaze and confuse.

Did you happen to keep photos of the door tags for those?
