I hate the dim factory map lights Toyota put in these trucks. I like that they went to a proprietary led instead of an owner replaceable led bulb setup even less. I'm about ready to rip the damn things out altogether and replace them with a generic light I can swap bulbs with.
Apparently Meeso Customs only made like three or four sets of their overpriced leds for the youtube reviewers and then stopped making them because they have been OOS for months everywhere I've looked.
WTF Toyota? Why did you not make these lights capable of accepting normal automotive led bulbs???

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I’m using those battery powered led tap puck lights with Velcro stuck to the roof. The stupid things work great.

I too find the interior lighting very underwhelming. I'm grateful that we now have footwell lighting but the front lighting overall is pretty dim coming from only two small map lights.

man I would love some better footwell lighting, like some that are a bit brighter than the ones we have. Not too bright to be distracting but enough to see where I dropped jolly ranchers at night

    All-factory options at this point.
I just got a 4th gen Tacoma and those lame map lights were the main thing that I couldn't believe-- just about everything else about the interior layout works for me.

Does your truck have the sunroof? Mine does and I can see that there is reduced real estate for a light due to the sunroof. But I'm hopeful that someone comes up with something thats an easy and tasteful resolution.

Yes I do- thanks for that! I figured there had to be a good reason-- I have high confidence that Toyota engineers have good reasons for the things they do.

Ah, the majority of the 4th gen trucks don't have the Sunroof which sort of explains the lack of complaints. I've had my truck two months and just now realize that the interior lights actually do turn on at night when I get close to the truck.... it's that the lighting inside is so dim that it's hard to tell. My front seat lighting in the 3rd gen (with sunroof) was a good bit better. Like I said above, I do appreciate the foot well lighting in the 4th gen.... trying not to be a complainer/hater.
