    Hey all,

Im trying to install a backup cam in my 06. i am using the popnlock 5400 and the master tailgaters cam, plus a Pioneer dmh-2770nex head unit. I would like to wire this in a similar fashion to the 2nd gens that had factory wiring. Any one have pic or a shop manual that shows how it was run? or does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to wire it up?

    Thanks!

It was fully powered by the head unit.
As for running the wires.....I'd have to do some digging.

You need to trace the BN1 connector back on the diagram below.
It's the one close to where the tail gate handle would be.

thanks much! super useful to see the wiring layout. does anyone have any pics of thier truck so I can see where the wiring goes through (on the tailgate an through to the bed)? I will probably need to drill a hole on the bottom of my tailgate since mine is an 06 without the routing holes.

There should be drain slots / holes in the bottom edge of the tailgate.

Thanks Jimmyh! yeah, looks like i gotta drill a hole. its good to know that the wiring has some slack across the tailgate before it goes into the body. the motion of the tailgate being opened/closed is torsional and not directly bending the wire.

alright everyone- Got my backup cam running with all your help. The cams wiring is very close to 2009-up factory wiring... was sweating bullets drilling the hole in my tailgate, but it looks good and I am happy with my work. The wire is enclosed in 1/4 inch wiring loom for the full run under the body and runs with the factory wiring harness all the way to the body grommet. After getting the video wire into the cabin, it was super easy running it to the head unit.

Massive thanks to all who helped me! I appreciate all your efforts and support.
