    Hi everyone,

I have a 02 tacoma 3.4l v6, I parked the truck and then after about a couple minutes it started squealing really loud and bad, i could smell something burning and then I looked under the hood, I couldn't see anything and then I tried again and I could feel it and hear it through the ignition when I was cranking it, it was going to squeal again and sure enough it did, I quickly looked to see what was wrong and I noticed the fan clutch wasn't spinning and one more thing. Before this all happened I could hear that something spinning like it was loose but I couldn't pinpoint the noise and now it won't stop squealing, I havent tried driving it yet. Please any suggestions would help, thanks guys

Take the drive belt off and start spinning thing by hand.

Frozen idler or something else that is forcing the belt to slip is the issue. Remove the belts and see what doesn't want to turn by hand.

Interesting related story. My son has an old Chevy van and on a recent trip the alternator seized up to the point where it stalled the engine. Never seen that one before. But similar issue.

When the truck was running i could hear like something was loose squeaky like it needed lube and then the loud squealing started and stopped the fan clutch as well, I'll have to try that

You have the V6 so it could be an idler on the cam belt, that would be a worry, but hopefully not. Worth keeping in mind.
