It was one of the first things I noticed too, because it’s pretty much the first interior piece you touch on a vehicle. It’s a poor design. I agree the materials used feel a tad cheaper, but also wonder if they just revised the design a bit if that alone would make it feel better. Having the seam there just seems odd since it’s always going to be tugged on.

I have an annoying rattle coming from the drivers side seat belt. It seems to be coming from somewhere inside the assembly and is most noticeable when going over bumps. Haven’t found any other reports of this though and the dealership said they couldn’t reproduce it…

I've not noticed any of that and I've just about gutted my interor two or three times already except for the carpet, dash and headliner, LOL. I've been busy running wiring for switches Toyota thought I only needed if I spent another $10k or so in options... Also put new seatcovers on which I pulled the seats out to install, and I still have an amp and signal processor to install as soon as weather gets more human friendly. I replaced all the factory paper speakers with Rocford Fosgate equipment and have to put up with under performing speakers till I get my amp in to push them.

Prior Gen3’s I’ve owned had loose trim, various rattles, dust & grease inside the gauge cluster, window whistles, misaligned hoods, misaligned tailgates, misaligned drivers door (‘23) uneven sunroof seal (‘23), even an improperly aimed windshield washer that shot washer fluid up into the hood (‘23).

Good trucks all, but after three of them I just assumed that’s how Tacomas are built. They still use the cheap stuff for the inside surfaces on Gen4, but the new one is assembled like a Benz compared to my ‘23. Hard plastics combined with a rigid structure can loosen over time, so I’m hoping it’s still relatively tight a year from now. We’ll see.

My no loose plastic pieces in my TRD, a door handle definitely does not flex.
