I'd love to, but I don't have the electrical capacity right now. I did upgrade the old Square D split bus panel, but just went with another large 100amp box. Updating my service would be some $$$ due to the way it's situated. Did what I had to do at the time.

There's still spots left for a two pole breaker. I already have the 3 lines ran into the garage so it's no biggie.

Hope ECGS wants to warranty another diff for me. This is the second time I’ve blown up a diff because of “faulty installation”

Damn, you got a black cloud over you or something? :goingcrazy:

Also you'll need the shop to cut off and weld on a new cover. This is an unfortunate mess I'm betting is no fault of your own.

Is this the same installer for both diffs?

Did you do the regear or a shop? How long ago? Did they place any warranty? Did they use any locktite on the bolts? (Not sure if that's standard practice or not)

My front diff has been leaving me tiny flakes for the last 3 changes and I think a regear is in my future sadly. Last time I think I saw the very tip of a tooth in it. Was a small piece the thickness of mechanical pencil lead.

I had my first third member installed by a shop 2 hours south of me for dirt cheap, they didn’t torque ANY of the bolts properly and the diff came out of the axle and shredded EVERYTHING. I tried working with them for a couple months to sort out the issues, and ended up sending it to a more reputable shop closer to me. The new shop installed the fresh diff and all seemed well for about 10,000 miles. This truck has been beat HARD but nothing that should hurt an ECGS member.

Wonder if the backlash wasn't set right or if it needed shimmed. No idea. I agree with everyone else that something's trying to come out.

Trucks going in tomorrow so I guess we’ll find out. I did everything right with this, went to the most reputable shop and bought the highest end parts, pretty sore disappointment haha

Just saw you're in STL. I know it's a haul but my buddy had his 3rd gen done at 515 Motorsports and he hasn't had any issues yet. @Sociopenguin

Have you thought about DIY the swap? The rear 3rd is heavy at about 70#, but changing them out is not rocket science. Would save you a lot of $$$ on shop labor.

Believe me lol, I have considered it. Seems much more appealing than the probably 6+ months and thousands of dollars I’ve wasted. I know exactly how to do it as well, I just have always hated doing my own mechanical work. I’m still really young and pretty inexperienced, so I don’t wanna be the one held accountable for a fuck up just like this

Customer came in with 2 pieces of wood he needs a full radius put on. I have the mill running and I'm at the lathe boring a part.

He ask where is the other guy that is out here? I said he retired 7-8 months ago. He said man I didn't know it's been that long since I been by.

He said when can you do these for me and how much, if it's too much I'll have to do them. I said I don't know, you know we'll treat you right.

He said when can I pick them up? I said come back the end of the week. He said man, I may have to do them myself.

He said can the boss do them? I said yeah he can do them, did you see him when you came in? He said no he's not in there. I said I know :frusty:

You want me to stop working on 2 different jobs to do a job for you that you don't want to pay much for? Come on now

Called the shop and they said they wanted to replace the entire axle housing.. if it’s bad enough I’m just gonna buy a 9” rear.

I'm getting less bad at that.

I have found it is faster to take a few minutes during the job and clean up when the mess gets out of hand, then start a new mess.

The never ending excitement of rural living and heating with coal.

I'm sitting in the chair in my Fruit of the Looms in front of a fan -- it is down to 83 in here. This morning it was 97. :bananadead:

Mrs Green thinks it is the perfect temperature.
