^Scratch that. I have an 08, so only round cigarette lighter and 12v.

For those who have an earlier model like mine, how did you run your USB from the head unit? I dug up a thread about accessing them and I’m not removing the dash.

Has anyone figured out how to work an aftermarket camera with the joying unit? I have an 05 taco so I don’t have the factory camera harness. Installing mine rn and can’t seem to get it to work since the reverse camera trigger wire has two wires and the cameras wires has only one trigger wire. I’m so lost

thanks for the reply. I got it working when I tapped into the red acc wire from the joying harness. It only works when you goin to the AR camera app, it dosent come on automatically in reverse. I also tried splicing into the purple+ that’s apart of the camera power plug and just the same thing. Nothing seems to throw it into reverse power, only constant power in the app.

once i had the correct reverse signal wire receiving power, the camera worked... instead of reverse though i was using a 12v powered switch to turn it on when i wanted since my '12 fed the backup cam to the mirror... i sold my unit with harness to desertratliff.... he might be able to see what color the wire was (i just cut it when removing) but pretty sure it was orange...

Ahh pretty handy. Gonna try and figure out a way to go into the app without having to scroll over to it. Hope something comes up

Alright well I connected the red trigger wire from the aftermarket camera to the orange wire labeled “back” on the joying unit and that worked! Thank you so much for your help.

I'm thinking about the 9" unit with controls for my '05 (base model 4x4, manual, no camera). I've been digesting this helpful thread and want to confirm something. With this truck can it be wired so going into reverse automatically opens the camera view?

Yes, I have the same exact taco as you. I also bought the same joying unit that you are interested in. The unit was plug in play no hassle there. As for the camera, I bought a tailgate reverse camera off of Amazon. I tapped into my tail lights reverse + and - wire, ran it to the cab, connected yellow plug from camera to the corresponding yellow plug on the unit, that was easy. Then had to figure out that the trigger wire from the camera needed to be connected to the orange wire labeled ‘back’ on the unit. Everything worked and it went into reverse automatically. Let me know if you have any other questions when you get the unit.

Another question: I live in San Francisco, possibly the epicenter of car breakins in the western world - I had my cat cut off in front of my house when that was a thing. (I know our city's brand is s**t right now, but it's 70 and sunny today so I'll live with it). Anyway I'm wondering if it's worth a crook's time to remove an Android head unit these days? I've seen videos about securing them from identity theft. I see one post from @Operator8 - anyone else lost theirs?

I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
I'll give it a try! Thanks!

Not in my area, if they are looking they will be aiming to grab a double din size radio. Something made to fit a certain car is 100x harder to resell. The 9 inch Joying looks very OEM, but it is very easy to pull out because it is no longer bolted down with brackets like OEM. Although I will be upgrading to a 10 inch screen, the new dasaita most likely, the resolution in AA at 1280x800 on the 9 inch is slightly too small for my liking. I may have gone for the Mekede M500 if I could do it over, it's a bit closer to 9.5in without the volume knob and it's 720p and still has optical out for use with a DSP.

After being lost by UPS, unit finally showed up. I have a bunch of questions:

My truck is a 2008. I have a hotspot on phone and plan to use CARPLAY for navigation. Do I need to install all these extra antennas?

I've got one of these radios, I believe the 9 inch 05-12 one.

I'm adding steering wheel controls to my truck soon. I'm going to have the standard volume controls etc on the wheel, id like the Bluetooth controls as well. It'll probably be late 2nd gen/3rd gen controls.

I know on some wheels, they have a directional pad meant for the screen under the gauges . Where we can program the buttons in the headunit, can I program these buttons to be able to move around things in the menu like you can with a computer without a mouse attached?

Id rather not install and wire up extra buttons if they're not going to do anything.

    Thank you!

    Thank you
