Hey guys have you heard about this settlement? I got a letter in the mail saying to file a claim if I own a 2012-2019 Tacoma for airbags that could malfunction or not deploy in an accident. The letter had a barcode which sent me to a website and I typed my vin number in and I’m actually eligible for a claim. But when I look for recalls on my truck I have none. Has anyone gotten this letter in the mail also?

I got it for my 3rd Gen too. I googled the ID number and got jack shit. So I think it’s BS. I too posted it to see what comes out of it all

To be honest with you I don’t really care about the 250 dollars they are offering, just hope my airbags will work if I ever get into an accident. I put my vin number in the Toyota recall page and Toyota takata airbag recall page and it says I don’t have a recall on my truck but when I type my info into the recall letter I got in the mail it says I’m eligible for a claim. Just wondering if my airbag is really defective or not.

I know when my 08 corolla had defective airbags I was getting letters directly from the dealer. Assuming these letters are from a third party?

I haven't recieved anything (2012). Sounds sketch to me. I'd go with what you see on the Toyota site vs some unknown resource.

Some guys in the 3rd Gen section chimed in. They said it’s legit but not worth the hassle. Can check out my thread to read their posts

Do these trucks use Takata air bags?

I received one for my truck (2014) a couple of weeks ago. It was a small yellow card. Since it didn't come directly from Toyota, I just assumed it was some scheme and tossed it.

The Toyota owners site has no current recalls listed on it for my VIN, nor does the NHTSA website.

Good documentary explains that basically every Tacoma made before 2017 has dangerous airbag. No mater if it was recalled or not. About every 10th bag will send shrapnel from airbag housing and sometime it will be directed towards driver. (IMO statistically it probably safer to drive with dangerous airbag then no bag)

Here is documentary for more details, plus it gives example of when good men face challenges and have to make right discissions.
