Buyer Beware: Desert Wolf Retrofits

If you guys were around 3 or so years ago, you may remember Nomad Retrofits, a headlight company owned by Will Peterson. In late 2021, Will disappeared with hundreds of customers payments. He deleted the socials, the website, the email, and left no way for customers to contact him. One popular account on instagram he had sponsored received over 100 DMs alone, asking how to get into contact with him about their orders.

Towards the end, Will had posted updates to reassure customers. That turned out to be a complete lie. Undoubtably, customers that could have filed chargebacks trusted him and were left out to dry when he disappeared. At the time of his collapse, the oldest order we are aware of was almost a year and a half old.

In mid 2024, Will quietly came back under a new company - Desert Wolf Retrofits. The Utah based LLC was filed by his father, but he apparently didn't know registered agents are public record as well.

During this all, my company spent thousands of dollars offering heavily discounted parts and headlights to those affected and assisting with warranty claims. I know others companies stepped up as well. I mention this to explain our very personal connection to this situation.

After being exposed, Will decided to make a post on the company instagram account for "transparency." It's uncanny how similar it reads to the same crap he posted to falsely reassure customers.

In his post he claims he "sent out refunds" and directed others to reach out if they had been "missed."

In actuality, despite Will having 3 years and all of the customers money + order information, only a handful of the people I talked to received a refund from him. Some were able to file a chargeback, but some orders, as mentioned before, were far past the cutoff for a chargeback. If he wanted to refund customers, he would have 3 years ago.

Of course, despite covertly making money off the same community he screwed over for months, Will had no plan to offer additional refunds until he was exposed. Not a single past customer had been contacted. No warranties were serviced for the last 3 years (nor was there any mention of doing so now).

His post claims he has changed. Except, one of his first actions as a new business was to buy a set of 3d printed headlight caps made by Freedom Retrofits and copy them. His post claims the design was "adapted," yet adaptation typically means changing something.

Will was lying to customers then and was lying by omission in his new venture. Nothing has changed and I hope the community does not get duped twice by the same guy.

Never heard of either, but dead internet theory is proven wrong for every scumbag who results in a wall of text

 

My advice to anyone about ordering ANYTHING, is that if you can't receive a product within 30 days, do not buy it, or if you do, file a charge back ASAHP

 

I remember this. And have been wondering when he would reappear again. Once a grifter, always a grifter. Just have to wait enough time for most people to forget who you are.

Which reminds me.....guess who has finally moved back to San Diego after running off to Texas back in 2018? I have a feeling this individual may be doing the same as Will....hoping enough time has passed
