I agree. If the dot is over the "cut out" then Bank 2 is off a bit too.

OP, Is the misalignment only happening AFTER you spin the crank over by hand?
All lines up good, then you turn the crank 2x and then it's off?

Thanks for the info and link.

I thought I had everything set perfectly during this last attempt. I just went through my pics again and don’t see where I’m going wrong.

I went out this morning hydrated and with a much clearer head.

It runs much better when all 6 injectors are plugged in.

However, the LTFT’s are still off and I’m getting a misfire code for cylinders 1 & 3 (and a random misfire code).

In this picture, the cam gear is off.
Look where the dot on the cam gear is.

Yeah, it’s definitely off in that pic. Do you see any issues in the pics in post #23?

Looks like it's right in you last pics best I can tell, did you recheck compression numbers to see if they are now inline?

    It looks right to me.

Were your cam gears marked FRONT?
Did you put the FRONT facing you?
    Apparently, this make a difference.

Yes, I made sure front was facing out.

I’m afraid to ask, but what else could possibly cause low compression on bank 1?

Could it be a head gasket? The oil still looks new and there hasn’t been any smoke from the exhaust.

Or could the vvt sprocket be bad causing it to go out of time and a misfire on bank 1?

The vvt sprockets are the only parts I reused from the 230k mile engine.

For what it's worth, I rushed through and didn't read it all and in the photo's I am not seeing a critical engine ground that is (typically) connected at the front of the motor , I found that the engine must be grounded to the wire harness or all sorts of odd mysteries occurr, even though it starts and runs the system needs a DEDICATED ground to the motor ........ just throwing it out there

I really appreciate the feedback. Would you happen to have a pic of where it should be?

The only grounds I remember installing are on the back of the cylinder heads.

Long overdue update. I replaced both variable valve timing cam sprockets, and triple checked the chains/cam gears, and it fixed my misfire issues.

I also think one of the old sprockets may have been inoperable.

I would highly recommend anyone doing a timing chain job to replace their vvt sprockets at the same time. It could save you from having to tear the front cover off again.
