Are each 9.5" (LC / Front Tundra) identical in terms of bearings etc?

 

Not sure what the differences are between LC and Tundra. Haven't gotten that far in to it. The only research I've done into the Tundra front diff is watch that video. It was enough to decide it's possible, and file it away in my brain lol.

 

Picked up a couple sticks of 2 inch x .120 wall DOM. 2 sticks was all they had. They should have another stick in a week or so.

I'll pick up a couple 1.75 x.120 wall when I pick up the additional stick of 2 inch.

Also got the garage cleaned up a bit this weekend.

Lighting

 

Doing some research on motor mounts.

I'm thinking these are a better solution for the perches than gusseting the factory frame perches. Requiring the old perches get cut off and these replace them.




I think this will kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak. They'll add strength, and I'll weld these in 1 inch higher than the factory perches, to lift the engine an inch. Prepping to eventually add in a 9 inch front diff.

The 9 inch front diff project is a ways down the way, but if I have the engine out, I might as well do this part now.

Quick question, are T100 IFS hubs the same as Toyota Truck IFS hubs? They sure look like it. There's a pair on FB Market... just want to check before I send them a message.

 

Forgive me, I haven’t looked into what Harrop offers for it, but what about a (3rd gen Tacoma manual transmission) 32 spline 8.75?

You could also do a 3rd gen Tacoma OEM elocker with that diff, which is electromagnetic like the Harrop.

That’s what I put in my 2nd gen after grenading an 8.0 diff.

 

Yes they fit, uses the same locking hubs too. Only thing different I remember is that T100s had a slightly larger rotor than mini truck/FJ60s.

The problem with 8.75 is I'm planning to do a Custom Axle, LT width, and full float. I'll be building a Ruff Stuff housing, like I did for my Tacoma. Ruff Stuff housing options are:

Ford 9 inch = Harrop is not available for it, and there is no other selectable locker option. (Because ARB isn't an option. Because they are trash).
10.5 Tundra = WAY too big, that thing would be a dang boat anchor.
9.5 Land Cruiser
8 inch Toyota

Seems like the 9.5 (with 37s) gets hung up more than the 8 inch did (with 35s). But I was having issues with CVs last year, and maybe I had higher expectations for the 37s than were realistic.
