To start, I have a Tacoma, 2007 2nd gen, 2wd. I recently noticed that my ball joints for my control arms are bad and I have to get both top and bottom control arms replaced along with the sway bars. I figured since I'm already considering lifting it just never had the time or money to reason actually doing this, that I should take advantage of the fact that once lifted, I would need a serious alignment or new UCA.

Now I know next to nothing about lifting or really even the whole suspension aspect of a car so give me tips that even a baby would know.

I have tried doing some research, however, since I'm very unenlightened in this, I don't really even know where to start. I'm looking for probably a 2" lift and I'm not sure if I should upgrade my control arms AND do my suspension at the same time or, if by some way, upgrade my control arms and have everything aligned so that when I lift it i just have to get it realigned and be all good.

I apologize if my question is vague as I'm not even sure I know what I'm talking about. I really just need tips and which route to go because my alignment is out of wack and I know I should really have everything fixed before next month is over so I don't blow a bushing on the freeway.

    Thanks,
    opolistika

    Reason for lift?

Solving a functional need or just looks?

If you're on the original suspension and you have enough miles that both your UCA and LCA ball joints are shot, you should also get new suspension. Based on what you're saying and assuming that you're driving a 6-lug truck with 32" or smaller tires, don't have a high clearance bumpers or winch, and also want to lift the rear:

Front Coil: Old Man Emu (OME) 2887
    Front Shock: OME 90021
    Leaf Pack: OME EL095R
    Rear Shock: OME 60091
    Control Arms: Toyota

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
For lower control arms some good quality but lower priced one are the Beck and Arnley. For upper control arms I bought used but like new Icon UCas with the delta joint from Facebook marketplace for $300. A cheap but good lift for you would be Bilstein 5100s with either your stock coils if there in good shape, or some Old Man Emu 885 coils for 2 inches of lift.
