Agreed. I hate when we find all their trash like beer bottles, food wrappers, and other junk they leave behind. We stock trash bags in our trucks and clear out the section we are planning to shoot at.

We accidentally ventured the wrong direction and passed fenced off properties with trailers on them. We once had a guy come out of his and fire a shotgun in the air telling to get the fuck out of there because it wasn't BLM for wheeling.

I typically will go to my local blm area near Prescott once in a while and clean up the garbage. There’s usually not much so one vehicle, a couple guys and about 20 minutes will get the whole area all cleaned up. Unfortunately I couldn’t do that at the hodge area since it was a sea of shotgun casings, random trash and junk. It would have taken a dump truck and some heavy machinery to clean that area up. We did however pack out everything we brought in. It would be nice if everyone did that.

Outside the costal cities CA becomes basically backwoods Appalachia really quick and people not from here dont understand that. Methbillies and illegal grow ops everywhere.

You’re just going to the wrong places and there’s a lot more to see than that over here. Believe it or not, there’s places, I mean whole valleys, you can go even on holiday weekends where you will not see a single other car or person for the entire time.IMG_1661.jpg

I go all over the place, born and raised in socal. I go off grid all the time and with hunting trips I don't see people for days.

Yes there are vast areas of nature where you can be alone and it's why I get out of the city.

The solitude attracts naturalists, those seeking peace and weirdos alike. My comment is to let people know that ca gets rough quick and it's not all laid back easy going sunshine and surf.

do you have any recommendations that you'd be willing to share? I've tried to explore out in the deserts near me but it's ass just driving through illegal dumping/tweakers/and gov restricted areas. (Lancaster/Palmdale area)

I've been up to some trails in bouquet canyon but on the weekends, it's always packed

I dont go out to lancaster/palmdale much anymore, all the areas I used to hunt are closed off now around there. It was great for quail 15-20 years ago.

For BLM shooting areas the one I still go to is in indio on the west side of joshua tree. Theres alot of people that go there but they all stop about 1mile off the main road, i think its marked on google maps as the san berdoo shooting spot or road. Just be careful you dont go into joshua tree to shoot.

Should look up Forest Service and BLM maps- that’s the best way to find areas you may like. We just pack up and head out to somewhere that looks new and away from pavement as far as possible. All those idiots trashing the desert don’t go far off road.

Agreed, but sometimes it’s nice to find the closest spot and get some work done with the pew pews.

I like a well regulated range with safety protocols. Even a public range sketches me out. Just last summer our numbnuts neighbor was skipping them off the ground and into the woods next to our cabin. Is there anything professional around you that allows non-members to shoot?

Been shot gunned out of different areas way back when and it has only gotten worse in the foothills. The illegal grows are no joke.

Before it was just locals growing, now you have cartel money running funding things. CA taxed and regulated it so much that theres still alot of money to be made on the illegal side.

For others looking for help finding shooting spots, get the BLM map from the local field office. Anything not marked for a specific use and BLM land is OK to shoot on.
