Power rear window slider?

It has been non-operational since I bought the truck but am trying to get it going again. Anyone have any info about these power sliders on the 1st gen? I know it is 'POWR slider' made by CRL and far from available but have been trying to figure out if I can salvage this or just replace the rear window.

My assumption is the regulator is burnt out and needs replaced.

 

Can you directly power that motor and see if it's still good? Unplug and use alligator clips to provide power.

Or test for power and ground at those source wires.

 

I have taken the motor off by those 4 Allen bolts…..blew out with air/cleaned connections and brushes
Reinstalled and success!

this was on my 1st car(pwr door window)
This was my only option bc poor college kid
Fixed the motor but ruined the door card if I remember correctly

I'll test it tomorrow (dark out now) and report back.

If it gets power to the connectors then I'll pop the motor out and clean/lube things up. Would hate to drop $300 on a new window just for this!

 

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken apart something, cleaned and part worked afterwards!

Okay so today I was able to troubleshoot. Switch was connected correctly -> gave voltage to the pins at the connector to the window motor. So the issue was with the window motor. Pulled it out took it apart had no idea what I was looking at and then worked on putting it back together. Didn't do anything but here we are.

Tomorrow I will put the motor back in the truck and we will see what happens. Would be great to not spend $300 on a new window.

Good job that's pretty great. Maybe lube up any moving parts. Prob hasn't been greased since it was assembled new.

 

No idea what I did. Maybe the brushes weren't aligned or something. I lubed up the internals but yeah the other moving parts will get lube tomorrow. Here's to hoping it'll work once connected!

 

Reinstalled the motor today - it would only turn one way with the switch but direct power it would go both ways. My guess is the window is off the track I can fully actuate the motor both ways but it doesn't do anything. Will grab a video tomorrow

 

With the motor off, the window should be much easier to manually move. Maybe the track, cables and whatever else moves the window needs to be cleaned or lubed a little more.

I've fixed sunroof that had debris in the track, they had to be taken apart and the run channel wiped clean. I'd typically find broken glass from a prior repair, but maybe yours has dirt or small rocks in it.

Hopefully it's not a broken gear or something, I assume it's impossible to find replacement parts
