    Goals:
    • Carry two bikes (possibly add a third later)

    • Keep OEM tonneau in place

    • Don’t get in bed to load/unload bikes

    Hardware:
    Benefits
    • Utilize bed rails

    • Open only two of three tonneau panels (tonneau doesn’t block digital mirror camera)

    • Crossways mounting allows easy fork access over the side vs. climbing in the bed

    What Didn’t Work:

Inno Velo Gripper RT201 - I liked the possibility of hauling two bikes along the edges of the bed and didn’t really care if the tailgate was open. Unfortunately, the tonneau cover has edges that interfere with these racks.

Swagman Fork Mount Rack - This could be mounted ‘backwards’ at the tailgate end of the truck, but the front of the tonneau cover interferes with the rear wheels and it only holds two bikes.

Additionally, the QR axle type is quickly fading from the market.

My core philosophy remains friends only let friends buy a 1Up rack but for poor weather, able to pull trailer, I got a pair of the Saris mounts that accommodate all popular wheel and fork standards. You can mount those in many ways. They have their own tray/track that make adjustments easy but I'm using strong plywood for now.

If you ride a lot quality pays but it also does for everyone because you don't want a broken rack or roadside trouble.
