just whining...day 15 Tacoma Sport...

Hey All!
Not really a question just whining.. This white Tacoma I just bought is trying to blind me! lol
This time of year the Sun sits right on my route to and from work, so I drive directly into the sun going to work and again going home. It will change as the seasons change but right now, wow! If the reflection is not bouncing off of the white hood, then it's laser beaming between all the areas not covered by the sun visors. I'm about ready to throw a matte black rug on the hood and half the windshield to save my retinas! HA! Anybody else getting sun blasted like this?

Most all hood scooped Tacomas do this. Same thing with my 2nd gen.
You can get the hood wrapped matte black, or even matte white.
A wrap shop should also be able to work with you and only wrap the scoop or center portion of the hood, not the whole thing.
You can also get tint on the windshield.
Whole thing at 80% isn’t noticeable. Or just the top 4-6” at a darker 35% I believe is legal in most states.

 

Get yourself some good sunglasses. It’s Friday so you can whine all day.

 

Same. When I posted about it (not on a Friday and before Friday threads were so rampant), I got fun responses like “be taller!” and so on.
The solution is either plastidip or vinyl wrapping a piece of the hood which I haven’t got to. Maybe I’ll finally plastidip it since my partner wants her RAV4 emblems blacked out.

 

Polarized sunglasses?

 

There's a thread around here somewhere about people getting just the dip on the hood by the cowl wrapped in matte black and that seems to help.

Best thing to do is trade that awful scooped hood for a better-looking smooth hood. A darker color (MGM) might reflect less sunshine. Also, less worries about that cheap white paint peeling.
