    Hi,

I fell in love with a 2023 TRD OR base w/o tech package and passed on it like a fool. It was a really good deal and the truck is sold. Should have done my taxes sooner.

I'm now left trying to find as good a deal as I can, that will not be as good as that truck, sigh.

I found a 2020 TRD OR with similar miles and in great shape. I noticed it does not have the auto climate control, which I don't care about. It also doesn't have the LED headlights, which I liked on the 2023. I'm probably going to spend $1000 more on this 2020 than I could have had the 2023 for, which sucks, but lesson learned.

Is there anything else missing on the 2020 that came on 22-23 TRD OR?

Why spend the same on a 5 year old taco, than a 2 year old Taco????

Hold out, you'll find another '23 in the same price range, just gotta be patient.

Found it interesting that the auto dual zone climate control was an option with the 20 trd's. It was standard on my 22 v6 sr5.

edit: I just assumed all standard equipment was the same from 20+

Same engine, same transmission, same frame but minor adjustments. Like the LED headlights for example came on later and wasn't there for 2016,2017,18 models. Transmission tune was also done later in models, and I am assuming samething with the engine.

On the other hand, my friend bought 2023 TRD pro and it was icky, some stuff inside interior misaligned, and transmission made humming sounds on brand new truck. So human errors are there regardless of year but I would still go 2023 model, just less time spent on road and/or against elements you know.

Why? No one wants an overpriced 4 banger turbo. Dealers can't give them away, just look at all the Gen $ siltting on dealer lots.

My '17 comes with it, but we get different configurations than the US models.

Keep telling yourself that..there is a reason dealers won't take 4th gens in for trades...
3rd gens seem to be getting more and more valuable.

I have a 3rd Gen , and I am totally happy with it . All the stuff people complain about is way way over blown . They are good trucks . Now I’m sure the 4 th Gen is a nice truck aLso. But it is apples to oranges . A turbo motor will always feel like it has way more torque . Especially in low rpm’s . But sometimes it’s to good to be true . Now is the new motor going to hold up ? Who knows . Being it’s a Toyota probably . But again only time will tell. I just hope everyone don’t go 10 k between oil changes on this truck. Turbos can be tough . It’s so …. so important to have super clean oil all the time. But yes from the driver seat turbos feel awesome.

Yeah standard auto dual-zone climate control was one of the "value added" enhancements that occurred between 2020 and 2022. The towing package became standard somewhere between those years as well, while the aux transmission cooler was deleted mid-2020.

Well, except the rear brake hose recall that doesn't have a remedy yet...

3rd gen is not perfect by any means, but it got enough things right to be the most popular Toyota truck generation in the history of western civilization, with 1.82 million sold over just 8 years.

You do realize that 4G transmissions are completely failing on brand new trucks. Along with a rear brake issue that has no remedy. What's next? Enjoy your truck.

The transmission issue was resolved loooong time ago, the brake line issue is only an issue if you clog the rear wheels up with mud for several thousand miles, fix is coming soon…..
