Edit: oh fu&kin great i guess i have some level of dyslexia and swapped 7 and 1. No i fu&king know i copied and pasted the number from Bob's forum but Amazon has been evil AF with suggestions of part numbers similar but not exactly the same.

Nothing to see here folks. Original post below for reference:

So i used this bobs the oil guy thread to determine the Donaldson P502067 is for my 5vz which i thought was being equivalent to the 90915-YZZD1 as that supercedes the older 90915-03002 the thread refers to:

    https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/donaldson-oil-filter-number-for-2001-toyota-tacoma.98435/

But its tiny and not the same diameter

Did i end up buying a 4cyl filter?

I get that the Donaldson is shorter (but better filter media) but its also supposed to be slightly more diameter than the OEM (2.9 vs 2.5"). Its like i got a knock off or mislabeled Donaldson (bought from Amazon)

I've always used the Mobil 1 M-209 filter, it's the same base and thread as the M-102 but longer. I forget how much longer cause I haven't put my hands on a 102 in over 20 years.

Yeah I have been interested in the Toyota OEM and aftermarket filters that are for different Toyota models (larger V6s and V8s) that have the same thread and diameter specs but longer (more material).

But there are rave reviews at how absolutely superior these amsoil/donaldson filters are so figured I'd give it a shot.

I just recently shopped for an OEM Toyota Oil Filter for my '97 Tacaoma 3.4L V6. I discovered that Toyota is no longer selling the US-made Toyota Part Number 90915-YZZG2 oil filter and instead is selling the lower-quality, Denso Thailand-made 90915-YZZD1 oil filter. Instead, I did some research and found that the best oil filter now for this engine is the US-made WIX 51348XP oil filter. It is available on Amazon.com here:

Yeah I think that is the longer version we can run.

I'm avoiding Amazon and eBay "OEM" filters, watching the car care nut vid and some others, "OEM" counterfeits are all over and very hard to identify- not just oil filters but all kinds of sensors like MAFs etc.

I'm going to try a friend's hookup at a local stealership to try and get a box of filters for a good price- ensuring they are genuine. But after I try out a Donaldson cause after all this messing around I'm a stubborn sob.

@skeezik I also don't recommend buying Toyota oil filters on Amazon or eBay. If you really want one, call the Toyota dealer direct and ask what Toyota Oil Filter part number they have in stock and are shipping because the ones I have called only have the Denso Thailand made smaller filter. Even the Amazon link to the 90915-YZZG2 has customer reviews complaining they weren't shipped the G2 filter. They why I have now switched to buying the high-quality WIX 51348XP oil filter. The XP version is an upgraded filter.

I buy the K&N 2009 for the same reason. Plus, there's a 1" hex head on the tip of the filter that makes removal and install a breeze. I've found it adds roughly 1/2 qt of volume, so I can just pour in a full 6 qt of oil instead of leaving a bottle half full.
