It was rattling from the glovebox. Someone on the thread made a fix for that.

    Awesome truck!

The SR 6MT presents a great value, and I'm glad it exists. When I went shopping - I honed in on the SR 6MT - but couldn't get dealers to discount them beyond 5% - across the US. Meanwhile, the TRD OR and TRD Sport 6MT were negotiable to 9-10% off - which pushed me in that direction. Easily upgraded - my only real qualm with the SR is the foam steering wheel and shifter.

Where in Alabama was this bad boy? I'm surprised it sat...I've never even seen a manual Tacoma at any dealership in Alabama much less sitting for months. Congrats on the purchase

That’s for sure. I had to go to Mobile for mine last February. Jasper would have been nice to find one there. It’s about 50 minutes away.

    Nicely done - at $35K, the SR 6MT is a no-brainer. I couldn't get anyone under $37K in November.

Are they not making this truck in a higher trim in a manual … all I have seen is the sr … which is the bottom of the totem pole .been looking at these new trucks no way in hell I would pay that much for a basic Tacoma .

$35K today is the equivalent to $29K in 2020 - I share this as many folks seem out of touch with economic reality. The features on a 2024 SR are wildly more advance than a 2020 SR - and the safety improvements are phenomenal.

Congratulations on the new truck! I'm currently on my 4th 3rd gen. I find myself missing my 2nd one that had a MT. I'm seriously considering diving into 4th gen but I'm skeptical... Can you help answer a couple of questions.

    1) How's the ride? Did you compare it to a sport or Offroad that have the coilovers vs yours that has leafs in the rear?
2)Did you get the SR upgrade package? With blind spot monitoring and front and rear sonar?
    3) Does the parking brake (e-brake) Set everytime you shut it off or park it? Or do you have to do that manually? I would normally just leave mine in gear and walk away...
    4)Remote start?
5)Does it have a "real key" like the 3rd gen MT or is it push button?

The ride is much better than the 3rd gen. I did drive a Sport and Off-Road. Those are smoother. The leafs are fine though.

No. The discount on this was too good to pass up.

Yes you have to set e-brake manually every time if you want it active.

Haha what? Lower your expectations at this trim level.

It’s push button. There is a real key pull out for if the fob dies.

You can just leave it in gear with your feet on the clutch and brake and turn it off, the eBrake will automatically engage.

The frustrating thing for me is you have to disengage the eBrake manually every time you start the truck and are ready to go. I would prefer to start truck with foot on brake and when gear is engaged, the eBrake automatically disengages.

Just recently figured out myself that you do NOT have to do this. Just put in gear and let the clutch out, it will disengage the parking brake automatically.

We just bought my wife a highlander. It has auto e-brake everytime you put it in park. Yesterday I figured out how to shut it off...

With the vehicle in the on position, Not running. Push and hold down the e-brake button. After about 5 seconds something like "EPB off" will pop up on the display. Now if will not set everytime you shut it off...IDK if it'll work on the Taco. I don't have mine yet...

hmm mine beeps at me when I forget to disengage it.. maybe I’m doing something out of order. Maybe if you manually engage the parking brake you also have to manually disengage? I’ll try the trick of leaving it in gear when shutting off.

well that is peculiar indeed. I leave the automatic parking brake turned off, and only use it when I can’t curb the wheels (old habit from being too lazy to adjust the cable when it would stretch on older cars). I had been disengaging it manually when one day I tried just putting in gear and go (similar to using the “hold” feature) when lo and behold it disengaged. The only thing I can think is that I have automatic parking brake disabled per post #38.
