Looking for anyone who may experienced the center display become non operational after starting the truck?

This issue is very intermittent meaning the dealership doesn't want to deal with it unless it's consistently non working.
(Which is understandable but also annoying that they won't tell me if this is a issue on other vehicles with the same consol)

If I get out of the truck and lock it then walk far enough awaythat the key signal won't lock or unlock it then return to thetruck and start it it will become operational again a majority of the time.

I do realize it could be multiple issues from the screen itself to a loose ground or connector. But just wondering if anyone
else is has had this issue and been able to repair it without replacing the instrument cluster

Things I have tried to remedy it
    -change battery in truck
    -change battery in remote
-check all fuses under dash for
    proper placement
-checked air filter/cabin filter for potential
    of rodents
-detached all accessories to isolate it to a core truck problem and not accessories related

Does it go out all of a sudden when driving?
Or does it fail to turn on when you turn the truck on?

Nest time this happens. See if the 7.5A Meter fuse is getting power.

Also, is your truck push button start?

I'd start with the 7.5A meter fuse.
It gets power from a relay. So that would be my first "go to".

When I say check for power. I don't mean check the fuse.
I mean take a voltage meter and see if the fuse is getting power.

Then you might have to move on to powers and grounds.

Absolutely. I have a 12v tester probe as well for other diag and testing. If I find that I get no voltage at the fuse and add 12v should I then expect the screen to turn on?

As what i am thinking you're saying is the ig2 main relay may be failing?

Correct. I’m not saying it “is” failing.
But the likely hood of a fuse that’s tied directly to bad being the issue, is a lot less than some going through the ignition switch and a relay.

Maybe the relay isn’t being turned on?
We don’t know. But we have to start somewhere. And I like to start with things that make more sense to me.

in the end, you’ll want to have tested all the possibilities before replacing the cluster. Because that’s going to be expensive.

So might as well start with powers, and then move on to grounds if needed.

Ah yes I understand what you're getting at, if the fuse we are getting power then we work forward from there. If it's not then work backwards from there.

I will update the next time it happens. Occasionally it seems to be once or twice a week

Okay so the screen failed to turn on this evening. I tested the 7.5 meter fuse that's under the dash. It had 13.2 volts as the truck was running.

    Where to next?

    10A ECU No3 and 25A tow.

Then go to the cluster. For that, we'll have to have someone with access to better diagrams to get connector pinouts.

All we can do is try.
    Trying is free.

    Dealership is expensive.
I always like to try myself first....

There are other threads detailing this identical problem and the scrambled screen problem as well. Most problems just went away, but those that didn't or the owner could get the dealers attention the dealer replaced the complete combo meter.

As your vehicle is a 2021 it may very well be out of warrantee; if so, there are "speedometer shops" that will work on them.

I have this same issue. Instrument cluster screen works intermittently. When it doesn't work it is completely off. When it's working, it's fine. It also seems like this issue surfaced after I replaced the battery. Battery is a standard spec and connections are fine.

My thought is perhaps the alternator may be part of the problem. Not really sure.

    I have a 2020 Tacoma w/ 58k mi.
