Was loading up from the food store yesterday and my 2023 Tacoma Limited starts beeping like when ya unlock or lock the doors with the fob.
I 1st yelled and the grand baby(not really) thinking she was playing with something, then I look down and I have the keys. Hummmmm
Then I notice 2 or 3 cars away a woman in a toyota car hitting her fob and both vehicles were beeping. I didn't say anything but could her fob also start my truck?

An interesting test would have been to go next to her Toyota and see if you could unlock her car with your Fob.

Could be radio signal interference between the two fobs. Noticed this at Toyota meets.

I haven't had this happen with my 17 Tacoma SR5, but I've definitely had it happen in my old Ford. In the parking lot for our local USPS, and noticed when I hit the button on my FOB to lock the truck, it was also locking and horn beeping on another Ford two parking stalls away... So definitely not uncommon, and maybe they could? Shit's weird is all I know

Was the fob in your pants pocket ?

I've had this happen a couple of times. Once with my RX350 parked next to another Lexus ( my windows were unexpectedly all down) and once with my Tacoma and a Ford truck. I wrote it off to "fob in pants pocket" and general electronic mystery.

As a kid I recall Dad, who worked for Pontiac, discovering that our neighbors '58 Buick trunk key worked in another neighbors '60 Impala ignition.

Only so many key patterns to go around.

Yes, fobs have more discreet signals. But I bet it could happen.

Just like the ole drive down the street pressing your garage door opener and see who else's opens. So I've heard.

Knew a guy that unlocked (fob) his car and drove down the block only to stop at a stop sign and have two people come rushing up yelling at him for stealing their car. He was in the wrong Jetta.

Keys were hanging on my belt, when I first heard it I thought I may of leaned on them and removed them and sat them on the tailgate.
