Hey there Interwebs of the world wide web.
I've got a 2004 toyota Tacoma first gen with a
    2.7 L engine
    4x4
    Reg cab
    5 speed
    110,000 miles

and the suspension is pretty much shot!

i went to go start with the ball joints and got one done and then snapped a bolt on the other side.

By the looks of it i need to replace just about everything up front.
I ordered OEM ball joints but they didn't match up with the after market tie rod ends that the previous owner had installed I guess. So off to o'riellys i went :(

any ways my question is what are peoples thoughts on best option for replacing my front end suspension. i live up in Vermont. so we get lots of dirt road action up here. I was going to go OEM on everything but wondering if there is a less expensive option or better option.

i've already replaced the rear shocks with oem ones and put new rear wheel bearing in as well.

well i'm looking to see what the best route would be to take to replace my front shocks upper and lower ball joints inner outer tie rods etc etc. Should i go OEM or is there an after market brand that would be a better option. The truck is all OEM minus the 1 inch wheel spacer i tool off a few months back. also hello over there in NY

I think inner and outer tie rods are a wash unless you are oversized tires and cranking off-road. I would just stay stock. The lower ball joints seem to be the biggest point of contention amongst 1st gens. Some people have luck with aftermarket but the consensus seems to be that you should spend the money for OEM.
