    I just got an alignment done after installing Bilstein 6112/5160s. I have stock UCAs. I have a few questions:

    1. How does this alignment look?

    2. Did this alignment guy just do a "toe and go"?

    From my research, my understanding is our 3rd gen stock UCAs can get up to 2° castor without issue. I would prefer camber to be closer to 0 to -0.2 to avoid any uneven tire wear.

    He recommended I get adjustable UCAs to increase castor so the truck can drive better on the freeway. I think it drives "ok" but can feel the bump steering.

    Should I take it back to the alignment shop? What kind of UCAs? JBA? SPC? Any insights would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    How tall did you go? You definitely didn't get a toe and go since the camber was adjusted. Not too sure why they didn't add all the caster...your spindle is almost completely vertical and you will get a death wobble with those numbers! Definitely take it back. If you are getting different UCA's, install them and then get the final alignment at another shop that knows what they are doing. You should be around +2.5° with stock UCA's unless you went a full 3" lift. With aftermarket, you can get up to 5°.

    With that little castor the steering might feel a little light and wandery esp with that little toe. Going to 0.1-0.15 total toe would help. The camber is not enough to start causing any accelerated wear if your rotating tires normally.

    do you have pics of the cam adjusters?

    I went with the 11/9 perch setting on 6112s in the front. Icon RXT stage 2 in back with 5160s. Before and after measurements below.

    Driver Front
    Hub to fender 20 1/2 -> 23 3/4

    Passenger Front
    Hub to fender 21 -> 23 3/4

    Driver Rear
    Hub to fender 20 1/2 -> 24

    Passenger Rear
    Hub to fender 20 3/4 -> 24 1/4

    I'm not sure why the alignment guy couldn't give me anymore castor. He said it was basically maxed out on the Passenger side at 0.70. Pics:

    the one side rear cam looks maxed. the other probably not as much to match. however without creating excessive positive camber theres not much he can adjust on the front cams to get more castor.

    Oh wow...you went 3.25" without UCA's?? Live and learn there. You definitely need high caster UCA's...Dirt king, Camburg, Ironman or you could go adjustable but that is putting a lot of faith in your alignment shop who would have to really know how to adjust both UCAs and LCAs.

    Not intentionally lol... Bilsteins 6112 on 11/9 perch is advertised as 2" lift on 3rd gen DCSB. I'm hoping it will settle a little, but heard digressive coilovers don't really "settle"?

    Looking at Dirtking, Ironman, JBA, JDfab but still doing to research on what will give me the right amount of castor. Seems like SPC quality has gone down hill and I will avoid them.

    you need more caster... not all shops can do alignments on theses trucks cause its a process, and takes multiple adjustments and fine tuning. its not as east as just setting caster to there you want it. you get caster where you want and it throws the other numbers out, get one of the other measurements back where you want and caster is out again. but either way, you should be able to get at least +2 degrees of caster on stock arms

    You most definitely cannot get 2 degrees of caster on stock uca with your lift, you need UCA’s. You won’t even be able to get caster anywhere near back into spec with your lift and stock uca. I got new uca’s at 2 inches of lift because I wanted to get rid of positive camber causing tire wear. It’s nice having a large range of udjustment. jba is probably the most popular choice and seems like everyone likes them, im running freedom off-road uca’s which are more budget friendly and I was able to get 4.5 degrees of maximum caster with my 2 inch lift. I’ve been in the shop many different times to experiment with different numbers for handling and tire wear, and here’s the numbers that satisfy me the mostIMG_4518.jpg

    JBA's are popular with that setup and easy maintenance. Anything over 2" requires uca's.

    Castor is a star or a type of oil. Caster is the angle that is measured for your alignment.

    In this case you absolutely need new UCA. Your caster is dangerously low. I wouldn't drive it nor would I have attempted to align it. The guy basically took your money.

    Good choice! I installed JBA uca with the same Bilstein setup and now have over 4° caster.

    What size tires and wheels do you run? I'm on 17x8.5 0 offset with 4.75 backspacing, 285/70r17 and I'm think I'm really close to the threshold of tires rubbing on the uca
