You should really try and jump the 2 pins on the OBD port to get the correct temp. That would confirm your app temp.

You should have got to 115 pretty quick since it’s the summer time. Your 15 min. time is common during colder months.

You could always drain and replace. You should have about 3.2 qts in the pan

Also, yours may not be 115 to check. Thus learn how to jump the 2 pins.

If you read thru all those post on the tranny fluid change page, some were checking at 97 degrees.

Update: After getting the temperature issue sorted out, I confirmed there was no fluid whatsoever trickling out of the overflow. It was dry as a bone. I used a siphon pump to add a quart of ATF and checked again. Nothing, not a drop. Continued adding until I ran out of ATF (2 quarts total). Interestingly, I test drove the truck knowing I was still a little low on ATF and it ran and shifted perfectly at all throttle ranges, including WOT. I also noticed the absence of a slight rattling at idle (it was very slight and had done it since I owned the vehicle). Fingers crossed it was something this simple.....

So, we have been doing a lot of repairs lately and I'm at the end of my rope for them, and at the end of my ability to do the repairs or pay for any more major repairs. The 2011 tacoma has 377,000 km on it, and now the transmission is acting up. There is a shutter and it's pretty severe. It's been getting worse by the day, and yesterday it put the fear of God in me that I won't even make it home.

Basically, when I shift into to drive, it struggles to change gears (3-4), then rapidly changes to 5, than rapidly the rpms drop to 1500. Once there, the vehicle starts to rumble a lot, punch the gas pedal and it goes away somewhat. I was driving in 4th, 3rd, 2nd etc, and it was doing fine for a while, now it's doing the same in those gears too. I'm at my witts end. I have a code reader, but the OBD2 port isn't functional for some reason. Thoughts?
